I hope this game doesnt stay like this
- You cant turn off vsync. some people said that triple buffer is vsync off, but that doesnt work for me at all.
- You shoot towards your cursor with middle mouse button? and you cant assign left button and right button is broken because you'd constantly open the menu of that enemy.
- Flight physics feel like sh**, in third person it looks pretty cool but in first person the spaceship feels ridiculously clunky.
- With flight assist on i just glitched 5 times trying to land until i turned it off. generally the acceleration is also too high for such things and landing feels really overcomplicated
- not a huge deal but i hope you reduce the minimum duration of the turbo boost. (edit: was just an error with the flight assistant, see my other post)
- sight range is wayyyy too small, is this because of the interior of the stations? i knew it would ruin the game...
- i hate walking around, and the crew feature, what's even the point of it when they fly like the worst bots ever. (breaks immersion)
- i expected you'd at least fix the walking physics, it feels like SHIT. and you should be able to use weapons.
- had this fight with some khaak... had to hold the shooting button for around 3 minutes while it did almost nothing (wtf is wrong with the ai?)
there are probably much more issues but i couldn't take it anymore.

>> You can buy landing software, (Two different levels) o learn how to do it and save some credits. the mouse wheel is great for little accelerations.
>> You want less or more duration? it is only needed for combat, the travel drive make the turbo unnecessary.
Give it a chance, the learning curve is like a wall.

Re: I hope this game doesnt stay like this
im running a gtx 1080.
the input lag due to vsync is ridiculous, especially when i'm running around in stations.
i love using my mouse for shooting as i did in x3, but the middle mousebutton is simply not comfortable to use.
(flight physics clunky) -> i don't know how i should describe this... maybe it's due to the vsync but in x3 the flying felt so buttersmooth that it was really relaxing.
the drifting was also more present which felt really nice, but i feel like in the new game there are stabilizers that take out the pleasant feel from it
if i disable the stabilization, the ship drifts around entirely without ever slowing down and i can't use y and x to change the amount of thrust, it's either full thrust or full anti thrust as long as you hold down the button (which might be cool for some control setups but not for mouse+keyboard)
thats a great tip, i'll look into it and probably in the end it will be all automatic again anyway.
with stabilizers enabled, when you tap turbo in the opposite duration after travel mode, it will speed up to 1000 m/s.
without stabilizers it works as intended
it made me think that the turbo has a minimum duration, that it always stays active for 1 second even if you just tap it but that's actually not the case.

Re: I hope this game doesnt stay like this
As with previous X games, it is going to take 1-2 years and the heavy support of the modding community to makes this game a "real game".
It is what it is.
It is what it is.

The game will get better. It takes time. Things will likely be ironed out by modders and Ego. Rebirth took a long time to iron out things a good two years IMO. What made it playable up until then were the modders. They were so pivotal Ego included some of these mods which were quite extensive in of themselves. Hell, there were complete overhauls to the economy via mods and more than one! They do listen and they even incorporate mods/features people use. They aren't a huge outfit with deep pockets. If they were they would likely fix a couple things and call it the day and move on. You won't get a game like this from these larger studios. I have a plethora of complaints. The community keeps me playing while Ego catches up.

I disagree. The flight model in X4 is better than X3 which now feels very wooden and shows it's age.
Just turn off 'flight assist' if you want the full experience.
As for shooting, I'm now using the side button on my mouse which feels natural after a very short while. But I understand your frustration, not using one of the primary buttons is a bit weird at first!
Many people want a longer turboboost... so what do you do? Mod it I guess. Give people all the options to choose themselves.

Indeed, although there's something that has always bogged be: Egosoft has shown time and time again they are able to see the worth of the modding community, integrating mod content in their released game. Then the next game comes out and at launch you feel like screaming at the screen: "You finally got it right last time, why have you forgot everything AGAIN?".Baconnaise wrote: ↑Mon, 3. I don't think I've changed any settings, but I can also fire the weapons by holding left AND right mouse buttons (in the mode where you need to hold left button to turn). Pressing spacebar also fired weapons, which has gotten me in trouble at timesOwnlyMe wrote: ↑Sat, 1. I read many people have trouble docking, which is a bit weird as I've had no problems (I am by no means an ace pilot). First thing to do is find a wharf/equipment dock and install docking software. That will auto-dock you when you get close enough to the docking point. I'm not sure how you try docking, but I make good use of the latteral thrusters to go left-right-up-down without turning my nose. On mouse+keyboard my docking procedure is to just first align the nose, then a/d to center left right, then mousewheel to center front/back and finally s to gently touch down.
In the discovery ship, a good place to aim is to get quite close to the bottom half of the holographic docking bay number and then look at the guide for fine tuning. It was a bit fiddly at first, but once I got the docking software, it's a breeze

Re: I hope this game doesnt stay like this
Then don`t. I love the walking around, it`s excellent. Hugely adds immersion. They`ve made it smooth and reactive just like a good first person game of say Skyrim or Red orchestra. Anyone who doesn`t liek walking in and out of his ship to view his machine or look at the huge structures has no imagination and wonder about the future at all.
1. Please do more on NPC civilian/uniform variety, and bio customisations, Devs.
2. Stations need sirens/warnings when enemy is close in numbers or Station in danger of destruction (in Sandbox).
Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time. (Edit: This is actually happening!!!)

Aristotle said it best when he said, "A is A." It's so much more concise. The proletarian version, unfortunately, seems to be what's caught on.It is what it is.
Not to impugn you, it's just an observation.

Um sorry but your complaint is unwarranted. Why? I'm using a mouse where the middle mouse button is broken (and RMB feels like it's going to break - yeah I need a new mouse) and I manage just fine killing enemies while still using KB&M.
2. Flight physics feel bad? In a computer game (ie fiction) set in the future (ie fiction) in an alternate universe (ie fiction) .... you want real flight physics? Go out and fly a real plane then. Even Microsoft Flight Sim X (or equivalent) won't ever give you accurate flight physics. This is the suspension of reality you accept when you play computer games. When I was 13 Elite was released and I played it on a Commodore 64 and it was a black screen with white dots and I certainly didn't complain about realistic flight physics.
3. Landing ... Funnily enough, I haven't had any problems landing in X4 .... I can't explain why I (and others) seem to have no problems landing our ships.
4. Sight range ... this one I might agree with you on, especially if it makes the NPC fly ships and land them better.
5. Walking around ... Oh come on, it's great, it's not Rebirth and I wish Elite Dangerous had this.
6. You fought some Kha'ak? Brave ... I hope you survived.

- x3 also had context menus and you didnt have to shoot via middle mouse button.

"3. Landing ... Funnily enough, I haven't had any problems landing in X4 .... I can't explain why I (and others) seem to have no problems landing our ships."
- i think it would be good enough if they allowed landing in any orientation, no idea why the ship needs to be aligned in a certain way anyway.
"5. Walking around ... Oh come on, it's great, it's not Rebirth and I wish Elite Dangerous had this."
- it's just in the game for the sake of being in the game (if that makes any sense), if you want to run around and all this silly pointless immersion that adds nothing to the game, play star citizen.
- i felt like the x series was about building an empire, trading, automatization, producing stuff, military/war, combat and maybe questing.
"6. You fought some Kha'ak? Brave ... I hope you survived."
- that was no wonder, it barely flied around and only shot back at the beginning of the fight.
if i had made this game, i had recreated x3 in a new engine with a huge interface and ai overhaul and added more dynamic xenon, competing companies and diplomatic decisions that force you into war with one or two races once you've grown big enough.
the hitboxes they introduced with x rebirth are pretty cool too
reintroducing the turbo was a good decision too.
travel mode, sure.. but not on the cost of seta and with uncapped speed

Re: I hope this game doesnt stay like this
Triple buffer is indeed vsync off, i got 150 fps as soon as i enabled it, but there is so much tearing and with vsync its perfectly smooth (1070gtx). Maybe some nvidia control panel settings force vsync for you?
The crew issue will be nonexistent soon, sure a mod is coming or if not ill port mine from XR that's for sure.
Though once in a while it feels good to go on stations, it does expand the experience once it isn't forced.
Landing should be no problem if your controls are set well, also docking software mk2 does just what you want, just get close to the dock and its done - no matter the ship orientation (though i prefer manual docking as it feels more like a space sim). The issue where collision detection is glitched is addressed in 1.3.
Fights should get harder later on i expect - fight/trade rank is back, i assume difficulty is tied to that. Also turrets had issues that got some attention in 1.3 beta.
Travel mode is really nice, i missed that in x3 even. It does not hurt any other mechanics and does not force seta just for travel reasons which is really good for immersion.
You still have seta so not sure what cost you mean with that.
Here nothing's wrong with sight range, i rarely see objects just pop in - maybe the only time when this happens is when i enter through a gate or quick highway with travel mode on.
In XR i just edited the config xml and set view distance to 1.3 - but in x4 i don't think its needed. Anyway, that might still be working.
Factions are dynamic, stations are destructible and need to be rebuilt by npc factions, not just appear miraculously like in X3 - i'm not in late game but assume it will play out way better then even in x3 (assuming related bugs get fixed, like argon eliminating the whole xenon race for some players). You have guild missions which also involve you in faction wars - feels better then just a couple conversations or toggle options that could represent diplomacy in this game.
Also now you can economically cripple a race.
Definitely some improvements over X3 in this regard.
Walking physics and weapons? Not sure what you mean by that. I don't miss fall damage, slower movement or anything like that. Don't spend too much time on stations and any dev time spent on such things will have much better use improving the actual space sim.
Having weapons in FP? Makes no sense in any way. Insane waste of dev resources with no gain at all. Hope i just misunderstood xD
And get a new mouse, don't blame that on ego.

It's especially noticeable in interiors, like having 50-100 ms mouse lag. and that on a 144 hz screen.
maybe it's the graphics engine because it varies depending on where I'm looking.
2.
The pop in is crazy in travel mode, hope that xml edit fixes it...
3.
With walking physics i mean acceleration etc, which is basically non existant. even skyrim had some kind of walking physics but in x4 its just simply flat.
And you move way too slow...
Adding weapons and some boarding fights would give the first person experience a reason to exist. instead of just being there so people can feel immersed
imo it costs way too much system resources and dev time for the nothingness it offers.
I personally can't really tell if it makes me feel more or even less immersed.
4.
My mouse is perfectly fine, Maybe the mouse wheel is a bit hard to press and needs to be done precisely or i'm ending up scrolling sideways.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry you're wasting your time trying to ruin things for others. I'm sorry that the moderators are going to tell me off for being blunt with you.
You're not happy? Move on.
If you bought the game, and it plays on your PC, while yes, you are entitled to be less than happy with game, I don't think it's fair to keep posting on a forum bitching about things to try to ruin it for those who are happy.
It's funny how those who've been here for quite a while, know Egosoft will patch and improve the game (to be blunt again, any decent developer will).
Don't be a troll, don't waste your time here. Move on. Find a game you are happy with.

I'm not intending to ruin the game for you, i'm trying to rescue the series for all of us.
most of the things i pointed out are either:
A: bad design decision that i don't expect to get fixed automatically.
B: bugs that really need to be fixed asap.

Re: I hope this game doesnt stay like this
well X is basically egosofts only game. So I am pretty sure they wanna sell DLC's and an X5 at later times as well. And by this they surely don't let the game stay in this very betaish state. I really hope next time they call this an early access it woul avoid a lot of disappointments and saltiness by some gamers.
