Transfer wares between ships?
In X3 you could transfer cargo from one ship to another as long as they are docked at the same station, how can this be done in X4?
I'm currently on the Boron's mission where I need a small ship with 3 Anti-matter Cells, I purchased the cells first and have them in my starter ships hold, purchased a cheap Kestrel as my suicide ship but when docked at the same station there is no option to transfer the cargo.
Am I missing something obvious?
I've looked in both ships info windows, station trade dialogue (which does allow me to select which ship I would like to purchase more wares with) and I have also checked the commands available in the map.
Any help is appreciated.

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
I have no idea how to properly trade wares, but you can just eject them into space, then fly over with your other ship, and vacuum them up with the magnet (default hotkey 'O').
You don't talks about X:Rebirth...

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
I'm currently at a shipyard with two of my ships docked there. From the map i can right click on the ship i'm not piloting and select "transfer wares with" which gives me a trade window between my two vessels.

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
Yes! This is the way!
But i found the option menù to trade with two (or more i think) ship.
Simply on map, hold down SHIFT key and DRAG two or more ship. Right click on destination ship and select "trade wares"!!
The two ships (with a captain for each) will go out of the station and will do the trade.

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
Tried doing this with me being in one of the ships every way i can think of and it just wont work.
In space: give order to transfer, select wares and confirm, captain does nothing just sits there with the orders in cue.
Docked at station: give order to transfer, select wares and confirm, captain undock's then stops close by and does nothing.
Is this a bug or is it just not possible to transfer wares when you are in one of the ships?
I am aware of the jettison workaround but considering to NPC captains can do it just fine its not making sense to me why i cant do the same.

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
You need to open your possesion lists, select one of the ships with left click, then right click on the second ship and there should be an option to "trade with". In general selecting a ship from the map/list and then opening the context menu of other things (stations, sectors etc) seems to be the way to do things now.
This said it only worked for me properly when I was sitting in a third ship for some reason. Not just letting the NPC captains pilot those two ware exchanging ones.

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
I dumped the cargo in space and scooped it with the other. However the mission is set that he works with your ship. Nobmatter what you do that ship is the one to die so best option is strip it to bair bone to limit the loss

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
Every time i issued the order the other ship would undock.
It wasnt untill i got out of mine and gave control to pilot thay I found out that the 2 ships need to be undocked and away from the station (space) to start a cargo transfer, i assume by transporter..

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
I followed the directions in this thread and I'm not having trouble transfering between ships. But I can't figure out how to transfer trade items out of my personal inventory to a ships cargo hold. Could someone tell me how?
Thanks!

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
I find this process a little odd... Both ships were docked, I was standing on the station, I issues the transfer order and got a GUI to select what I wanted to transfer. However, when I clicked confirm the "source" ship took off! I assumed it'd action the transfer via the stations trade network. I.e. both ships docked = transfer available.
My "source" ship - the one I'm transferring stuff from - is currently buzzing around the station...I'll wait for a bit and see what happens.
Note: my goal is to transfer stuff from my old ship to a new, better one.
Edit: So it appears the destination ship - the one I'm transferring stuff to - was waiting for me to give the order to proceed. So, the "source" ship took off and waiting in space the moment I confirmed the transfer. The destination ship needed a nudge.
Lol, this is funny...the "source" ship flies around, dropping each item in turn and the destination ship then scoops them up. So, first missiles are dropped, then they're scooped. It's VERY slow and clunky, surely there's a better way? For it to work this way when in space is fine, it's just automating what a player might do. When on a station however, I'd really have thought they'd use the stations trade network - you know, those tubes that connect to the underside of the ship when you dock. Perhaps I'm missing something...

I tried with a miner as suicide ship would not transfer, then tried buyin antimatter cells with miner and couldn't. Assuming miner ships cannot carry antimatter cells.
Barons, in X-rebirth pilot inventory just went with the pilot and showed up as wares which you traded with the specific NPC trader for the goods

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
^ This is the answer to using the game's AI and UI to transfer items between ships.
I was trying for over an hour to figure out how to transfer deployables from a prize ship (that I recently captured) to my main ship. I had docked both ships at a station, opened up my "Property Owned" window, selected both ships from the list, right-clicked and chose "Transfer with...". After moving the items with the sliders to the main ship and clicked Confirm, my main ship undocked and flew out and stopped just outside of the station. The prize ship didn't have an AI captain, because I planned on looting it for deployables, then selling the ship to the station. So, it just sat there on the dock.
I flew the prize ship out to the meet up with the main ship, but nothing happened. I cancelled all orders and tried again, but nothing happened. Then, I read this thread.
I docked both ships again and tried to move my extra pilot (that's been in the Marine crew position as backup) to the prize ship. He acknowledged the change of position after I confirmed the order, but he remained on the main ship as a Marine for some reason. I tried promoting him to pilot (of the main ship), so I could walk up to him and try transferring him to the other ship in person, but then the pilot (with more experience that I wanted on that ship) vanished into the ether. I went back to a previous save game and decided not to try moving crew again.
So, I found some random crewman aboard the station and hired him on to captain the prize ship. The main ship was still outside (again, this is from an earlier save) with the Transfer orders still queued up. The new captain boarded the prize ship and I heard, "awaiting your orders!" (or something like that). I brought up the Map, then Property Owned, right clicked on the prize ship and chose Proceed with Orders. He then took off with the prize ship, leaving me on the dock, flew out to meet up with my main ship and I watched the Behavior screen for my main ship's info, as each item completed transfer from prize to main ship.
So, in summary, this works. It's not intuitive at all, but it works. I don't know if it was part of the tutorial for "Map: Ships and Squad Usage", because I could never complete the first stage of that, where you're supposed to order the other ship to "Fly To", as there's no option for that in the pop-up menu. This should be definitely covered in a tutorial if it's not already, because I don't know how someone's supposed to figure this out on their own.

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
They just need to make it like X3 where you could just transfer wares and equipment across ships that are docked.

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
This mechanism is currently not implemented or completely broken. Be it an Alpha state of the game or any other reason, the TRADE part of the X4 needs some serious work. I had to stop playing becuase of the frustration with such simple things like this. Cargo transfer within a station is a basic requirement, and flying out of the station to do it is BS. Transfer out of my own ship to another doesn't work at all, or it has not even been implemented yet.

Re: Transfer wares between ships?
For "fly to" simply go to the map, select a ship (with an NPC pilot in the chair - including the one you may be on), then RMB the desired destination; the 'fly to' command is in the context menu that pops updjxavier13 wrote: ↑Mon, 3. Of course if there was even ONE SINGLE OUNCE of a decent encyclopedia we would know this. Unlike previous X games, they couldn't be bothered to do anything but copy paste "No information available"...like why even have an encyclopedia.

Thank god for this thread! I was totally mystified by how to do this as well.

Too right. What on earth were they thinking when they designed this? I mean you got two ships in an effing dock. A dock FFS. What are docks for? Err, loading and unloading cargo last time I looked.Jashashunter wrote: ↑Mon, 3.
