Automated trading ships?
Sorry if this is common knowledge and/or already answered. Forums are moving very slowly for me and search takes a long time.
I'm wondering if there is the equivalent of X3:TC/AP's player-automated trading, e.g. Sector Trading ships, in X4. If so, how is it implemented? If not, is all remote trading done manually? Thanks in advance!

YUP! You need a ship with a 3 star Captain first. In the map menu after you select your ship you can go to the tab beside the information tab and there should be drop down options on like default behaviors. You can then select things like Auto-Mine/Auto-Trade ect. This will open more options so you can select what ware(s) or mineral(s) or gas(es) you want that ship to auto trade/mine.
Also i think auto-mine can be a 2star cap? cant remember and I'm not home to double check!
Hope this helped

Honestly I think just by making them do task over time will. I'd recommend just searching around for one that has the 2/3 starts and transferring them over.

It's not too bad trying to search out good pilots. Find one before you commit to buying the ship, then transfer after ship purchase. The auto-mining/trading is really nice, and They'll update you and whatnot along the way. Also, check out the global settings and tailor them to what you want them to do. I found tinkering with those made my ship perform how I wanted to.

How can you tell if a person is a 3 Star Pilot? When I look at people at docks I always only see an Engineering and Morale Stat with something like 0 1/3, 2 1/3, or a a single digit number.

You don’t need a 3 star pilot. Get a ship, select it and then right click on empty space. There should be an option for auto-trade (galaxy). I’ve got 3 traders running now and they generate a decent amount of cash though you need a bit of a cash reserve to make it work smoothly.

Re: Automated trading ships?
Is there a way to automate them selling stock you have already? Like if I have a large mining ship can I automatically have it (or another ship) autosell the rocks to nearby stations?
Seems like there should be a way, i can set them to auto trade... But even though they have a full hold of ore and there are stations within 1 sector that want to buy ore the ships just fly around in circles...

My traders are constantly losing ~10-30kcr with every trade, both on galaxy trader and sector trader, any ideas? The Cuban Nightmare wrote: ↑Sat, 1. Dec 18, 06:59 You don’t need a 3 star pilot. Edit: Specifically, they won't leave the sector they start in and I've lost about ~220kcr since I've started them

Re: Automated trading ships?
As far as the Auto-Trader not leaving the system, maybe it is because the 'Max gate Distance to buy/sell' values are on 0?
I have had very few issues with my ships, and then it was mostly doing a trade of 10 units for example.
