I have a setup with two 4k (UHD) displays. When I launch X4, it runs in full screen mode in 4k resolution. My PC cannot handle that res, so I tend to play games in full screen 1080p. When I lower the resolution in the graphics options, the game stops responding (task manager lists 100% usage on a single core and marks X4 as "inactive"). If I switch any other setting related to the display (for example window mode, borderless window etc.) I get the same freeze.
Ok, so I thought I'd just edit the options file manually, no biggie. When I enter a resolution of 1920x1080 and keep all other settings (fullscreen = true, borderless = false), the game launches in 1920x1080, but in a borderless window, on my second display, while my first display changes to 1920x1080 and displays the desktop.
Playing in a window on a UHD display is so small, none of the text is even remotely legible, and full screen only seems to work on the screen's native resolution, which makes it borderline useless since borderless window is superior in every way if you want to run at native resolution anyway.
Bug #1:
Steps taken: Change full screen resolution to a non-native resolution in config.xml
Expected behaviour: Full screen rendering at 1920x1080 on my first display and let my display scale the image up to 4k.
Experienced behaviour: Game launches at 1920x1080 res, but on the second display ina borderless window and display #1 freaks out, changes to 1920x1080 and displays the desktop.
Bug #2:
Steps taken: Change anyresolution or display mode setting in the main menu
Expected behaviour: Some form of loading screen, then apply/discard changes dialog
Experienced behaviour: Game freezes, maxes out one CPU core and is listed as "inactive" (I gave it ~10 mins, then killed the process). On next game start, you instantly enter the main menu and get a apply/discard changes prompt counting down (and into negatives), where you can only apply the settings, discard does nothing and in the end you are back to the old settings.
My setup:
2x UHD display at 4k resolution
Windows 10 Pro with latest updates
nVidia GTX 960 (I know, way underpowered) with latest drivers
1.21 CTD/FREEZE Unable to change display settings

Re: Unable to change display settings
Sorry for the delay. Could you please post some of the diagnostic information described here: https://www.egosoft.com:8444/confluence ... VulkanInfo
And as we are now at 1.1, could you see if your issues still happen in the latest version.

I haven't had time to check if the patch fixed it, I'll post an update as soon as I get to it.

Re: Unable to change display settings
I can confirm, with both 1.21 and Beta 1.3 I still have these problems
