I noticed all the streamers seem to be using flight modes where you either hold left click to turn in a direction or have it automatically follow your mouse.
In X3, I had the controls locked to the mouse cursor like how you would fly in a Battlefield game. It made aiming forward guns less flexible but it felt a lot more like a dogfight to me and it's just easier to do transitioning from FPS games.
Does anyone know if this is still possible?

Re: Mouse controls
Good question. Mouse controls worked well in X Rebirth and since X4 is based on that I would think the same would apply. But I don’t recall if it had that specific mode.

Registered just to comment here and in the thread about shooting with LMB.
I need this. Coming from X3 and other reasonably good mouse control games like war thunder this game is a nightmare to play this way as a fighter.
I usually disable the flight assist stuff and use WASD just like a fps, with W and S as throttle controls and rolling with A and D. I really like the space physics in this game and using momentum and throttle to drift around ships. I delegate the strafe controls to Shift+ stuff to get them out of the way, as with this new space mechanic they're unnecessary most of the time.
Egosoft, I understand you get all your feedback from joystick users but I don't think it would be too hard to implement the mechanics that you had in the old game as an option for people who are used to the old style.

Re: Mouse controls
Try shift + space mode and see if that's what you need.

Re: Mouse controls
I agree with u OP. Please, bring back the X3 mouse control as an option to those like me that hate the actual controlling system( the following mouse cursor mode i mean), it's quite game breaking. The moment that u (EGOSOFT) put it back, i will buy the game,if not im sadly out, and i say this as a huge fan of X3.

This. So much this.
Please have an option for X3 mouse control. The right click to toggle flight/cursor mode, the left click to fire (flight mode) or select (cursor mode), etc. was remarkably simple/effective to use, at least for/to me.

I'm hoping there going to get rid of that message that turns up when you press shift + space as its distracting.
