Something messed up my save game
Hello!
Problem is this. I cant install MK5 engine (or any other). If i install it, it sells my current one but does not replace it with anything. At ship info it says that no engine upgrade installed.
I also had a problem installing MK5 shields.
I think the problems started when i noticed that instead of number four at shield indicator, i had number 1. I thought that maybe it broke in a big fight i had before from where i barely escaped (with like a 1% of hull or something). I bought another MK4 shield to replace the one that broke but the number was still 1 at the indicator. I thought, must be a indicator bug. But, i noticed i had very strong shield... when i wanted to install mk5 shields i couldnt do it, the shields just didnt install. Same as engines, it sold the shields but didnt install new ones. So, first i sold all shields... all 3!! of them. Somehow i managed to install 3 shields when i tried to replace the broke one - that is why it felt a bit too strong too. Now the shields are working fine, i think.
Something i also noticed. The skunks missle limit has increased a lot, i have over 600 missles...
Im not sure what caused this all but ill give you my mod list:

Main suspect is Cheat Menu X Rebirth mod but i havent had any confirmation from author yet.

In this one, i have removed CheatMenu mod but the problem is still there.
Maybe someone could check the save file for obvious errors...

Hey there.
I am an avid save game file tweaker, so... I'll take a look at the codes under your player ship and figure out what's wrong. Will report back shortly.
Edit: Whoa, your save file is huge... a normal save file should be around 100MB uncompressed, and around 10MB compressed. A compressed save should NOT be over 100MB! I think something may be wrong with your save. Have you ever edited your save or anything?
Edit 2: Yeah something's definitely not right here. I can't even successfully unpack your save game. Says the archive is damaged.

And no, i havent touched the save file BEFORE but i removed cheat menu mods requirement from save file, thats it. Also, i havent cleared any log files... and i bet that economy statistics take fair amount of space too...

Definitely not mistaken: Your initial link resulted in a "save_010.xml.gz" (.gz is for compressed) that was 111MB in size. I looked inside your save game, found the following lines pertaining to your shields:

As for the engines... also found something interesting, and I think I figured out the cause.
It looks like you installed the following new engines:

P.S. - For future reference, always upload compressed save game files as per forum guideline. Saves a lot of time both ways.

P.P.S. - Just in case a mod is messing up your game, please check the index of reported working mods and make sure all your mods are updated and compatible with XR 4.0

Did some further investigation, I think the cause may be the XR CheatMenu mod.
It seems that if you add Skunk shields and engines via this mod, it doesn't properly remove the old equipment you have previously installed, so the new engines/shields are installed on top of the pre-existing ones (resulting in you having 4 shields and 4 engines, effectively, though the game only uses 2). This is probably why the mechanic bugged out when you attempted to trade with him.
I say this because I am also using this mod and have spotted redundant shields & engines in my save (though I haven't visited a mechanic for purchases yet, probably why I haven't encountered the glitch).

I may show you.. the Campaign Pre Installed Engines before Yisha fixed them.
Anyway, i'm glad that finally found the conflicting Mod... hope you are able to sort the Problems now.

Thanks Simoom for repairing the save. The thing about that cheat menu mod is that i never used it for anything else than making the whole galaxy explored... And since this mod required save game editing to be removed, i just left it be. Never used it again. All equipment i have, i bought ordinary way... so maybe it was the damage that screwed everything up.
And thanks everyone else for the info.
So its safe to assume that the high missle space on skunk was due to that mod too... Maybe i misread a bit when reading the description but it never occured to me it did something by default. I always thought you have to use the cheat menu for it to do anything.

Do this :
check the version of the mod. Download the last.
1) Run the game / load game
2) Using the cheat menu, add: engine, scanner, Shields
3) Save the game.
After that, a list of mechanics is not deleted.

I am having some issues with this mod as well, though, and am currently communicating with him (in my case, I definitely did use his mod to install shield/scanner/engines on a brand new save, and I am pretty sure I saved the game before ever visiting a mechanic. My starting equipment - the "Balanced Shield MK1" and "Balanced Engines MK1 (dmg)" simply stayed installed on the Skunk in the save game file.
The "Cheat Menu" mod is actually a really great tool; this being my 4th playthrough of the campaign, there are a lot of mundane things I wish to skip and this mod helps a lot with that. But the documentation for it could definitely be improved (I noticed the increased missile capacity as well, and yeah I can only think it's this mod. It's not mentioned in the description at all. Not that I mind; having 500 Tri-stars is pretty awesome.
