Trying to narrow down the cause of one mod affecting two others

Yeah Van-Fim's mod New systems pack is affecting some mods oddly and it concerns me since there was no warning from the mod author about incompatibilities or issues with other mods.

Two mods I noticed are affected.

Better Highway visuals is completely overwritten and seems as if it's not even activated. Show Skills on the other hand is working somewhat but You can't contact NPC's via the skunk anymore to check their skills either ones on stations you which to hire or NPC currently in the crew compartment of the Skunk or on other ships you own. When you talk to them personally it appears to working normally.

The thing I'm trying to narrow down is how New systems pack is affecting the Show Skills mod. I've unpacked both mods and see no correlation or lines in the MD code where either mod affects one another. I suppose someone who knows more about script/coding magic than I do could probably do a better job at it than I am attempting with my feeble and inexperienced stab at this :lol:

as usuaöl - does the log contain any useful information? especially a snippet where you attempt to talk with them might be useful


first idea: maybe someone copied an existing md-script and forgot to change the Name defined in the File itself.

for the hw visuals: are only the new systems affected or all of them?
if not stated otherwise everything i post is licensed under WTFPL

Ich mache keine S&M-Auftragsarbeiten, aber wenn es fragen gibt wie man etwas umsetzen kann helfe ich gerne weiter ;)

I wont do Script&Mod Request work, but if there are questions how to do something i will GLaDly help ;)

I'll be sure to get a log, as for the HW visuals all of them appear to be affected as far as I could tell.

Edit: didn't see any snippet where I talked to an NPC. I'm gonna run a test without the other mod to see if it resolves it.

Using "New Systems Pack" and "Show Skills" and found no problems, have hired as I map the vaaaaaaaaast new Galaxy.... Have hired lowly pilots to an Architect and Manager that had very good skills......

yeah I noticed it wasn't New Systems Pack either. I don't know what's wrong there's 3 or 4 other mods I added in the past few days and I tried testing without them and the result was the same. I have absolutely no idea why things are borked up.

I have noticed the return of many (Old) faults, the bouncing marine, 2 bounced for so long that they were shot by friendlies, invisible ships suddenly appearing next to a ship and destroying it, not being able to dock on boarded ships .. The list goes on... :)

I've encountered the bouncing marines issue. I was forced once to collide with the damn pod in order to force it into the target. Lazy git wouldn't do his job properly! :lol:

I FIGURED IT OUT!

It was something so simple and stupid I didn't realize it until I changed an option setting :o yep that's right it was an option setting in the game that caused my issue. The Hud menu option is what caused the mod to bug the hell out. If you have it on other than HUD show skills mod doesn't work as intended.

:shock: I'm very surprised by this but then again I shouldn't be, still that's a headache I won't have to deal with any longer. I hate it when the most simplest of problems tend to be overblown. God it was so simple and in front of me that I missed it until now. The most frustrating problems are always the ones hidden in plain sight.

thats the problem i constantly encounter when finally testing the scripts i wrote during the last two weeks :D dont worry about it too much ;) :D
