Odd issue

So, I'm having an odd issue with my game, my engineers do not seem to want to repair the ship sometimes, they get hung on "analyzing components"

Any idea what could be causing this?

I run my game with a few mods and I'm not sure where to go about figuring this out. Thank you!

Also it appears they are now always stuck, even NPC engineers

Off the top of my head, none scream of affecting Engineers,

Have you used as other mods or done any save editing with the existing game?

When you say "sometimes", is it often the same NPCs, and if yes, what Engineering skill levels do they have? You could try recalling and reassigning your own NPCs in case that helps.

I believe "Analysing components" is just the default state when there's some damage while the Engineer pauses to think about what to do.

Actually yes, since I've been adding and removing mods I have been minor save editing, but even on a fresh start (just tested) all NPC engineers still seem to be saying ""Analysing components"

and now it is with every NPC and Player ship :/


Also the de-bug log is clean of any errors, so I have no idea :/ I've even removed mods that I thought might be causing it but no luck yet.

oh, I'm also playing with black rains "conquest and war in rebirth" mod

Analyzing components in 4.0 iirc means everything repaired (in second command field).
Are you sure the issue affects all ships, or can it occur just for specific one(s)?
It might even take them half a min to switch from analyze to actual work after getting damage. If the ship is repaired and engineer is on analyze, that sounds like normal behaviour.

I play around a bit and see if it fixes it or not

What hull % range do the engineeers stop at? There have been changes to the ai that fix ships to a level dependent on the engineers skill.

As far as I know, "analyzing components" should last 10 minutes at most when the ship needs to be repaired.
You can remove your engineers and add them back, it should restart the script, might not fix the issue but it should tell you if what caused it is still installed or not.

I currently just captured chimera battle cruiser, it escaped with 17% hull damage, after sitting for 5 minutes I save edited it and repaired the components but left the hull at 17%

Its currently still "analyzing components" :/

I'll let you know if anything changes

**EDIT**

I've tried remotely sending the engineer to the ship and doing it manually, I still get "analyzing components" Will wait and see what happens

**EDIT 2**

Tried removing the engineer again, I was also docked this time rather then doing it remotely, this time it kicked in, We also changed sectors during all this so unsure if that helped or not, all AI ships seem to still say "analyzing components" but I've also yet to see one damaged so will see.

Savediting while repair process is (should) go on can harm it potentially.
Never seen the code, but its easy to imagine something gets messed because your edits 'surprise' the engineer script.
First thing i'd try is to set engineer to 5* skill, otherwise who knows how long it takes and when does it kick in.

It is apparently timed based, how long exactly I think is based on a per engineer level, I had one kicked in right away then the other waited awhile, good news it works :)

I just had no idea it was time based, its been awhile since I played and if I remember correctly it was always instant before.
