I only use mine one:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =490273017
Places a trade agent aboard every station, and adds every zone/sector/system to your map. Because seriously I did the proccess of placing agent at every station manually about two times already, and revealed all useful zones a crapton of times, thanks to this modification I can start a new game at any time without repeating all of this again, and start prospering rightaway.

These to avoid any smalltalk, i find that thing terrible
* TAF!
* ShowSkills
* NPCs on your stations!
This one to avoid having to listen to the same voiceovers a couple thousand times while player control is locked (none of which contain any info, they moslty repeat the text on the button you just pressed)
* SilenceYouAll
This to avoid having to kiss stations while gaining info on them - it seemed fine for the first 10, but later just a chore
* ButterRanges
Imo XR gets boring quickly, as it has no challenge to offer for later game stages, and it's world is really static. To this end Conquest & War looks promising, wanted to play it already, but DLC beta came in.
I assume it will make MICT & MOCT more or less mandatory.

It is yes. While it's not as extensive as LU (not sure about XRM as I've never played it) it's a great piece of work. Do bear in mind that it is not yet at 'release' status since Blackrain and Rubini do not always have a lot of free time to dedicate. Still well worth installing though.

Most of these are not even convenience mods, just cancel out some features. The smalltalk related mods remove a big chunk of the game (all HR related things basically).Pind wrote:Seems like you guys mostly enjoy the game as is and are just using some convenience mods.
There are a lot of convenience mods that expand the game where its needed, like salvaging, repair optons, traders, or dump cargo to space command. There are too many of them to list, the ones i mentioned just make the game playable for me - the rest i consider a taste thing.
When you find XR lacking in functionality, chances are you will find a mod that helps you.
As usual, try vanilla and see what doesn't fit your playstyle.
There aren't many that expand game mechanics, only know about C&W - not sure if others are maintained. And i expect it will have some issues when 4.0 and the dlc get released. Hope i can fit in a playthrough in that time.
Maybe the player shipyard mod, but without a reason to build all those ships it does not make much sense.
I think the biggest issue is that right now the only reason to building stations and trading is to get more cash, and C&W seems a perfect way to lessen this feeling of futility.
Judging from GCUs remarks its ready to use so i'd recommend doing a quick vanilla plot to get some general idea on the 4.0 game, and then start a C&W playthrough as soon as you got the hang of it.
Thats as close as you can get to the X3 mods you mention imo.

No need for a restart, C&W can be used in a plot game, although it is absolutely vital to complete the entire plot first before activating C&W.pref wrote:i'd recommend doing a quick vanilla plot to get some general idea on the 4.0 game, and then start a C&W playthrough as soon as you got the hang of it.
Does play out quite nicely that way - the vanilla plot provides the story & at the end of it every major faction mobilises it's fleet & goes to war. Previously whenever I did a plot game it always felt a bit odd that nothing's really changed all that much when the plot is over & it's pretty much back to business as usual.
Adding C&W at that point feels like a natural continuation of the events in the plot - HOA & PMC are in open conflict in Albion, almost everyone tries to claim a chunk of De Vries & sheer chaos in Maelstrom with a 4-way fight between the Xenon, Argon Government, Split & Heretic Vanguard (C&W also turns HV into a full faction, with shipyards & supporting infrastructure in Sigma Sector).

Sorry, don't know that. My 4.0 game is a new completely vanilla one for beta testing. Just had a quick look through the last few pages of the C&W thread & didn't see any posts about incompatibility with 4.0 (which I suspect there would be if it broke anything major), though might still be worth asking in that thread if anyone's tried it with a 4.0 game if you want to be sure.pref wrote:Oh thats just great, thanks for the info GCU!
I dont even need to rebuild the whole supply chain, and rearm the skunk!
I feel beta test will end soon for me..
Have you played it on 4.0? Or its 3.61 only?
