Hello,
I recently had some issues with XR locking up my pc completely. I've taken the advice of Alan, and ran the game last night. I noticed in the thread by Lemur, that some folks suggested a hardware cause. What i would like to do, rather than sit for hours running my other games, as well as XR is run a system test. Just to check for hardware problems.
I was wondering if any of you guys could suggest a decent program that would test my system, CPU, GPU, hard discs etc. There is a BurnIn Test by Passmark software already installed on this rig, by the manufacturers, Scan computers, but that now requires a license.(which i would get if the program will do all that i want). The on site warranty runs out on this rig in Jan, so now would be a good time to test it. I also noted what Alan said about GTX users experiencing this sort of problem primarily with this game.
I know that this is not an egosoft specific question, nevertheless, i would respect the opinion of the tech support team members on here.
Many thanks,
Stephen.

A good free cpu stress test is Prime95 which is a bit lengthy to run to test multiple cores and threads.
Win8.1 has its own integrated RAMcheck program (Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool) which is probably as good as free tools such as MemTest86 etc.
I use the higher level DOS command 'chkdsk /f' to check and repair non-SSD harddrive issues. It runs after a reboot and can take a long time to check large drives and so is best done in system downtime.
I cannot help you with NVidia checks - sorry.
Terre often recommends running an Intel Update tool that checks your Intel chipset drivers are all up to date.
I hope that helps.
PS: I didn't actually say that Nvidia GTX users were having issues primarily with this game. I just noted that the 3 users posting similar issue symptoms in the Rebirth Tech Sp thread were all using GTXs.
