Sound problems + How do I read crash logs?

Post by tomtalk24 »

Sound, I use a SoundBlaster Z so might be that. But the menu sounds seem to blend in with the music or voices. Reminds me of ketamine. Like its matching the higher volume sound. Is this a know issue?

Secondly I'm getting rather a lot of crashes. I can point a finger at anything, my CPU is working about 80% :) but my ram only seems to use 6gb, so 2 for system, the other 4 I guess for game (is that normal, I thought more). And GPUs using 30% each.
I am playing with Tridef3D, but 2D seems to have the same crash rate. I have logs but don't know how to read them properly if someone can explain to me how.

AMD 8350 4.875ghz CPU, 16gb ram, 7990&7950 GPU. Windows 10.

Thanks.

People here would likely like to help by looking at your logs for you (you could upload them somewhere). But first off, I'm sure they'd love to see your dxdiag report as that potentially find issues such as potentially out-of-date drivers, that sort of thing.

DXDiag reports are explained here and general tips for seeking technical help are here.

What speaker/headphone sound system do you physically have and what speaker layout have you set in your SBZ soundcard control panel?

While you are in that sound control panel, see if you have any 'fill speakers' or 'channel volume equalising' options selected. That may explain the apparent sound channel blending and lack of individual in-game channel volume control.

For crashes please supply the related EventViewer error reports. For Win8/10 these are (usually) also included as WERs at the end of the DxDiag we shall also need.

We can always fall back on the other larger game debuglogs and dump files later on if we have to.
