v.3.60: XR confuses the zones and ships turn into ghosts

Post by XenonSurf »

I have build 3 modules of a station in an empty zone located between Five Ways, Forlone Armory and Buried Treasure in Ascendancy. I have renamed my station zone.
To speed up the building of the 3rd module, I found a PMC ship patrolling with wares the architect needs, so I decided to hack the ship with my Trojan Drone. The ship is located about 25 km distant from my station.
The hacking went well, I got away from the ship somewhat to call-in a Titurel of mine to collect the dropped cargo. Then, a chaos:

Suddenly the hacked ship disappeared, and I hear: "Entering Forlone Armory". Ok, maybe I was at the limit of it, so what - nothing special. But: I fire up the zone map and I cannot see the hacked ship. I fly back into my station zone which is 180° behind, I reach it after 20 km or so. I look in the zone map: yes, there is the hacked ship at 25 km...Set guidance and fly to it, I get near and the ship grafic disappears, the blue square is there, but no ship grafic. If I get very close the grafic suddenly re-appears, I call my Titurel to Follow me, he cannot make it to me; if I go away for some little distance, the ship is gone again...And me in Forlone Armory.

I don^t think that my 3D position in space has changed, but the map gets confused causing the ship to appear/disappear.

Yes, lots of odd things happen across zone/zone and zone/empty space boundaries. One of the best laughs is boosting from empty space into a mineral zone and suddenly finding a huge asteroid appearing immediately in front of the speeding Skunk.

The other worrying boundary oddity is when red enemy ships appear on your cockpit radar map. You turn to engage them and suddenly find that they are in fact several zones away from you and will disappear from the Skunk radar as soon as you hit empty space.
A dog has a master; a cat has domestic staff.

Thanks, Alan. My scenario above has not hampered my gameplay, I can continue as normal. Next time I will build a station really near a highway and in the same axis as other stations. Hope this will help against this 'Hyperspace' activity :D
