Defence officer its not defending after plot

am i the only one who sems to have problem whit all my ship i have post attack on prisison ship i get back after the plot its done its not attacking/defending it self when comming under random attack when i got them to DeVrise? sorry about the spelling..

Although I have never finished the plot because focusing on Free Play, I know from other posts that your hired NPC in the plot may not work anymore if you transit from the plot end to free play.

As a workaround, you have to change them or talk with other NPCs.

Example: a plot engineer on a station will not repair your Skunk once you are in free play, you have to go to another non-plot station engineer. This is a bug reported and in the works. This is for v.3.53, but maybe still in 3.60, I dunno.
From this example, I suppose other plot related NPCs may have problems too.

I can't remember if I experienced this issue or not but if it is just a case of the game getting confused by the handover of ownership, recalling the DO to the Skunk and re-ordering them back to the ship will likely fix the issue.

The engineer might not repair also so may as well do them too.
