Inactive ships

I own 2 ships that won't do anything - a Drostan and a Camulos vanguard. Many many hours ago I sent them to a shipyard to repair, but they are just stuck there. When I try and communicate with them the following are greyed out so I can't use them - new orders, assign new superior, stop current task.
I have sent other ships to the same shipyard for repair with no problems.
I am not too worried about losing these ships, it is just annoying to see them stuck there when I can't use them.
If nothing can be done about this, is it easy to just go into the saved file and delete them?

Did you try to simply restart the game?

I have no idea how to unjam them, but if nothing works, you can just sell them to any ship traders instead of deleting them. Selling should work since it's an option from the trader instead of from the ship. That way you'll get a good part of your money back.

Yeah, selling sounds like a good idea since this shouldn't happen in the vanilla game.

Has the game in the save used some of the mods that you have written in the threads of? If so, one of those could be the cause rather than a bug.

I don't understand: a Drostan is a small ship where you simply talk to the Ship Dealer for repair and it gets instantly repaired, period. If I'm not totally wrong, there is no going to a shipyard for it, AFAIK only capital ships L or higher need to go to the shipyard. So, which version of XR are you playing, maybe earlier versions are different?
Your other ship (Vanguard) I don't know.

If memory serves, small ships had to dock at small shipyard to be repaired. But since I play with the repair laser mod, I haven't repaired any small ships in a while, so I might be wrong.

There is a way to edit the savegame to un-stuck a shipyard. Search for 'RMP' or 'shipyard'. I have given a code example to replace.

You may try this one to un-stuck the shipyard. It will be different than the code below but the principle is the same. make a BACKUP of your savegame before!
Oh, and: you didn't take the pilot of the ship out during repair, did you? Because then...It will stuck the Ship Dealer and the shipyard for SURE.

I have spoken to the ship dealer at 2 shipyards, when I ask for a sale my ship is greyed out, so I can't sell it. I do have several mods, but as I have repaired many ships in the past I don't see how they could count in this case.

Some shipyards only sell S and M or L and XL ships.

You may need to speak to dealers that sell S and M ships. Which shipyards did you try?

Where they already busy, potentially in a stuck state due to miss resources?

I have the latest version of Rebirth, the campaign. The shipyards that I asked would sell my other ships of exactly the same type, but the problem ships were greyed out. I will try and go into a saved game as suggested above.

While ship traders can only sell their of own category of ships, they will buy any kind of ships. (in both v3.53 and current beta test, at least)

I have no idea if small ship repairs consume wares, but I know L/XL ships does, so it might be the explanation. Let us know if you manage to confirm it.

I have just sent one of my Hesus to a Small Ship Dealer in Five Ways to see what problems could occur and how exactly this is handled.
My Hesus' Hull was at 96%.

- Ordered Hesus to Join My Squad
- Located the Small Ship Dealer and got guidance, went over shipyard (without docking)
- Talked to the Dealer which asked me how much percent I want repair for Hesus
- Ordered 100% repair; my Hesus goes docking
- Hesus undocked after 15 seconds, BUT still at 96% (?)

So, the dealer didn't present any wares needed for repair (as it would happen with CAP ships). Also my ship wasn't repaired, maybe in too good state, I don't know why, I just burned 30.000 credits.

I really don't know what could have gone wrong with your 2 ships (or the shipyard / dealer). A more expert player will have to explain. I know there are some troubles with CAP shipyards, but here it's different.

I seem to have solved the problem by going near where my ship was docked, and asking a new pilot go to the ship (even though there was already a pilot in each ship). I now have complete control of my ships (nothing greyed out), although I am still waiting to see if I can get them repaired.

Just found this in another support post:
You must stay in zone during repair and until repair is finished otherwise your pilot and his ship will get stucked in the shipyard and you can't get it back (3.53). I don't know if this has been fixed in beta 3.60.

For CAP ships: never change the captain during repair, or all repair options with the ship dealer will be greyed permanently (no more repairs possible).

Thanks for making the entry in the beta section.
I have created a save in vanilla 3.53 and went through several scenarios. I couldn't reproduce the 'pilot stucked in shipyard', but as a coincidence I found another bug. My reproduction steps are in your beta section entry.
I have uploaded my Quicksave.
