Selecting graphics card - Resolved.

Hi,

I have a custom built laptop with two graphics cards: an Intel HD Graphics 4600 and a NVidia GeForce 840M. Understandably, I want to use the 840M, but the initial screen that pops up with the option to launch X3, along with changing graphics settings etc. only shows the Intel card in the drop down list.

I'm not sure whether this is something to do with activating something inside or outside of X3, but I was wondering if anyone else here as been through the same issue and knows a way around it.

Hi. Here is a very similar recent thread which concluded that the discrete graphics card was actually being used to play (in Rebirth but could apply for any X game).

You might find some hints and things to check in there. Note the Tech Sp information that we ask for as standard that helps to diagnose the issue. Good luck.

I have an Acer notebook with an Intel HD Graphics 4400 and an Nvidia Geforce 820M. To get X3TC and AP to recognize the 820M, I had to define the usage of the card in the Nvidia Control Panel directly (under "Manage 3D Settings" -> "Select a program to customize" select the X3TC and/or X3AP.exe, then select the Nvidia card as the "preferred graphics processor"). After I did that, the Nvidia card is correctly displayed in the X3TC/AP Starter under "Graphics Settings".
