An i3 could be a bit labored with the game. I have a medicore i5 (everything mobile grade components otherwise, so it's kind of slow anyhow) which does pretty well.
Without question your system will not run the game with all combinations of possible game/graphic settings.
FWIW, you could run any of the X3 series very well with your system. Very fun and if you want to get playing X then you certainly could do that.
XR is a bit different than them in game play, however you could learn back story, lore, races, etc.

My i5 2500 + gtx550ti cope, but I do get framerate drop with a lot of ai in the same zone. AA+bloom definitely need to be off,and maybe try it in 720p not 1080p which gives me pretty decent frame rates. Due to the simulation both cpu + gpu get pretty hammered so as froger said, your cpu is probably not up to it.

Ah, then I guess you've played them.
I was lucky enough to catch the recent free weekend (~1 month ago) and was able to check first hand how my computer would run XR.
Steam has multiple ways to send alert(s)/news tidbits - RSS, e-mail, etc.
Sure fire way to answer would be to wait for another free weekend. I have no clue if there is any history of them happening but the one I caught seemed to have been tied to a milestone update/patch - v3.50

huh?
..the way to answer your question has been within your grasp. I'd say forget it then. If you weren't satisfied with it's performance last time you ran it then my guess there's not much egosoft has or could do to make a significant enough difference. Frankly, it could be the game is more demanding now than when you'd last tried it. Possibly much has been added since then.

It will be much better than last time now that you will use a dedicated graphics card. Saying that, whether the gameplay will meet your definition of 'good' using your cpu and system is something you can only really answer by downloading the game again and trying it.
The moral here is that when you can reasonably expect a game to be improved by patches, and/or you expect to upgrade your system, then don't delete the local game files you have already paid to download - hard drive storage is really cheap nowadays. Now you probably have to do it all over to try the game again.
If you didn't buy or activate the DLC so far then try the base game before you decide whether to do so.

To be perfectly honest, you need a CPU that doesn't even exist yet (And possibly won't for another 10 years) to get this game to run really well. (Hell even X3TC drops below 60 fps in larger battles some 12 years later on the fastest commercial processor on earth.)
Egosoft are not very good at game optimization sadly, they have amazing and grand game concepts (Well ok x-rebirth was just plain terrible concept wise, but all their other games were great.) but the games usually run like crap on even futuristic pcs.
To sum it up, can you run it? Yes. Can you run it well? No, noone really can.

when i did my first play throught "yes i beat the game with minor modifcation" i thought it was good but that is not the point in this thread. I would like to ask for this thread to be locked as i feel it might start a flame.Valhalla Awaits wrote:To be perfectly honest, you need a CPU that doesn't even exist yet (And possibly won't for another 10 years) to get this game to run really well.
