The cap ship example above, where the escort is far away from their charge I figured it was something with radar range(s) being used in the script.. Also the apparent behaviour of cap ships is to generally keep.make a lot of empty space between them and anything else. EG: undocking, etc.
On the other hand, that would be wrong (using a radar stat) IMO since it'd be likely escort and charge would have direct communication.
I would agree pretty much with the seond post though - the escort script(s) and or their interaction with another script in play isn't working as expected..
I assumed as the context of the game generally uses 'escort' to mean bodyguard and not prostitute -- that escorts should function in a follow, watch and protect capacity, at least.
..at most they should also defend themselves since staying alive is required for them to fufill their role as escort.
The following example should be easy to duplicate in any plot game since the URV forge is in Glaring Truth and thus, making the same production routes.
This is from a live game, observed more than once.
- 4 Hymir assigned to work for URV forge manager
- 1 or 2 fighters manually assigned to each Hymir captain
- Crystal harvesting will have them fly though rat zones
Passing through Torrid Veil and Unmet Promise generally has some REI fighters to threaten the Hymir(s).
Two different 'broken' script observations (OOZ) I've watched:
- The following is when Hymir is 'flying' to the target zone, not mining in case that is key to the matter.
- Hymir attacked by an REI fighter (only ship taking shield damage) - escorts with much faster and more agile ships just follow along like they're in bumper to bumper traffic and do not protect Hymir.
- Escort fighter(s) the REI target and only ship(s) taking shield damage - they continue as in #1, and do not defend themselves.
Neither case did any of the REI ships take shield damage.
It has occurred to me that the station related script(s) envolved somehow don't work with global scripts like the manual subordinate assignments.. I did the manual escorts for the grouping -- makes for a clearer overview of ship assignments than the way listed via station management.
