Hello,
So as I see my fleet growing I'm wondering how I'll be able to command it during a battle without having each ship crashing on ennemies.
Is there a mod (compatible with 3.50 ofc) that let me command a ship to engage at a certain range (because without it Balors are useless), and with an automatic retreat if the hull drops below a given percentage ?

Hi applecat144,
That's exactly what this does! Can't specify range, though. And the ship/s has/have to have a really good crew.
Wasn't really going for fleet command however. Just smarter, more effective combat movement when a ship's crew is smarter and can be expected to be more effective.

Hi w.evans,
Your mod seems really intresting but I won't take it for now, because it's almost impossible to train a crew since it doesn't earn XPs as they fight. Of course I could look for the perfect crew for each ship but I'd prefere to train the crew like I did with my marine officer.
But what I look for is a way to give to my ships common orders that aren't implemented in vanilla.

UFO mod is the best way to do this, but MAd Joker has not released a 3.50 compatible version yet. Also, for crew training there's a mod for that (have you taken the time to read even this pages mod titles?)

Fair enough. There's also cicero111's Captain AI Overhaul. That has custom movement for the Balor and the Sucellus. Not sure if it still works ok, though. There have been changes in the vanilla movement scripts since its last update.

The only way of training a crew atm is to use my mod:applecat144 wrote:Hi w.evans,

Yes I saw it on the Steam workshop but it's not really good since your crew improves randomly, and not by practicing. However the modder seems aware of this issue and is working on a better system so I think it'll be way better later. I'm afraid improving the mod to this degree will take a loooong time or maybe will never happen as this would need changes in a lot of files. Once that's done, the maintanance of the mod after every gameupdate would be horrible. Once i'm gone, the mod would probably die.
The current version, on the other hand, is nearly indestructable. Therefore, I'm reluctant to do make a new version atm.

With the greatest respect oliverjanda - MitchTech Station Logistics also features XP based crew level-up
I realise it's not a mod for everyone's taste and that it's really a late game addition - but the crews do level up based on the amount of work they do. Flip-side is they also get paid a salary and you have to also pay to train them up to the next star level.
