XR 3.2 Slideshow - resolved by changing region and returning

Post by onQ »

I have noticed a severe performace degradation with the 3.2 patch. The framerate has decreased to such an extend that the game has become unplayable, I would guess its at 1 to 3 frames a second.
The strange thing is that my graphics card is barely loaded, it switches down to 300MHz because there is simply nothing for it to do. I have tested different graphical applications like furbench, cinebench and Skyrim, all of which are giving normal results therefore I don't think its due to my computer.

My machine specs are FX6100 with R9 270 graphics card.

And here is a sreenshot to illustrate the issue

Nobody else with the update is reporting this. Have you verified the gamefiles cache since the patch? Is your game modded and if so, are you sure your mods are really update-proof?

What was your fps before the last update? We really need the information asked for here to look at your issue in any depth.

Resolved the issue simply by leaving the region. As soon as I left things became smooth again and when I returned the issue didn't reapear so I think I'm in the clear.

My appologies for the false alarm. Still, its a somewhat odd behaviour and probably relates to the update but it clears itself out with a context change.

It's funny you should mention this. I had a similar experience in Darned Hot Air the other day - I was mod testing so I put it down to being something I'd messed up myself. I'd left the game running on its own for about 4 hours. Leaving the zone and coming back fixed the framerate as it did for you. I do remember there being another thread in the beta testing forum about this apparent slow down if you stayed too long in a sector doing nothing but not sure what the outcome was.

Actually I had been in that region for quite a while waiting for construction work to finish up. It didn't occur to me that it might have related to that since the slowdown remained after a restart/reload.
So there might be an lingering issue still there, not severe but a bit disturbing when you are not aware of it.

Had exactly the same problem today, solved it by changing sector.

Happened while I was standing still on the deck of one of my ships, for too long, I guess.
