Confused about version 3.x - resolved.

Hi,

I just recently heard about X Rebirth on the Elite Dangerous forum. Being a fan of space sims I started reading up on it and now I wonder.

If I buy a boxed copy in a retail store of X Rebirth, will I be able to patch it to the latest version (3.x) ?

Reading the FAQ it said something about only Steam will have the latest version, does that mean that I have to buy the game through Steam to get the latest version?

The boxed version also uses Steam, and so, it will download the updates.
