Game won't start [SOLVED]
Hi guys,
just bought game, installed and it won't even start. I get to the Loading screen and it crashes back to Desktop. No error messages, no nothing. A PC restart did not help. If I launch the .exe it also crashes but also launches the steam client.
Windows Event Viewer does not register the crash.
Thanks!

Hi there, looking to help
first off, I am sure your Dload of the game from steam is complete, so lets go from there. If you need to tech that as an issue, you might want to contact steam for help.
Since the game works for the most part when used as intended, lets next look to your system for the problem.
I noticed in your Dxinfo report your drivers are suspect for your GeForce GTX 970 Video card. Have you updated the drivers for the card Directly from Nvidia or from your card manufacturer? I would suggest updating them from the card manufacturer first, try the game, then if you are still having trouble, try the generic chipset drivers and see if that resolves the issue. lemme know.

or is it Win 7, 8.1?

OK, head screwed back into place....
ok, we see the Dload is complete, and verified.
we know the drivers for the card are current, and installed properly.
we know the OS is current
Now, lets look at what is running in the back ground of your system. try this:
strip it down to the bare minimums, then try the game. (they come back upon a restart, btw.)

Tried the latest NVIDIA driver.
Closed all bloatware apps i.e. Motherboard, Network, Sound card, Microsoft Security Essentials.
Nothing running in the background. Bare Windows 7 (64bit).
X crashes to desktop after the Loading screen (xuniverse logo_HD[]-rendertarget.jpg).
I somehow think it's Steam related.
Every launch I find a new XR_r310_2015_01_18_17_06_31.dmp file generated in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\X Rebirth folder. Information inside it looks useless to me.
Sound device change from 24bit to 16bit didn't fix the crash.

I am surprised that you are getting CTDs with no error messages in EventViewer. Are you looking in Eventvwr, Event Viewer (Local), Custom Views, Administrative Events? You can sort the list there by date, level, source and type etc. I usually look at all the Critical errors, and the AppHangs and AppErrors, on the date when the issues happened to see whether the relevant application (X Rebirth in this case) was in use at the time.
