a pegasus with full speed upgrade is seriously fast, so if u want to get up behind a ship say a transporter and annoy him, it is very difficult to match his speed without crashing into him. will we be able to control speed more easily

I don't see we need to. Let's face it, there's nobody in their right mind who is actually going to try dogfighting in a ship with 1MW shielding and a single GIRE, especially against a target with at least 25MW shields. The only really fast ship I would consider using in a fight is the Boron Octopus, because at least it has a reasonable level of firepower (3xBIRE)--in fact, I intend to use one to explore the X2 universe!padre wrote:will the manual speed control be more finely controllable in the threat ie

It is still darn hard to control. Ships in XT have terrible throttle control. With my hacked Elite (490 whatever per hour) getting behind a TS transporter or Orinoco for a healthy bashing is very hard. You have to give *very* quick taps on the keys, and you're likely to give up and just try to cap it before slamming into its exhausts. Considerable frustration generally follows, as you repeatedly fail and reload.pjknibbs wrote: I don't see we need to. We have to bear in mind ships in the X universe are slow - designed to operate only in a small area. so combat will never be Wing commanderesque in speed. This means that it's always likely to be pretty easy unless there has been an unheralded quantum leap in enemy AI. Having a range of "match speed" type short-cuts will just make things easier.Meltdown wrote:
