very low fps g1 gtx 970 - solved ( in my case )

Hey so this was an odd one..

I had previously gtx 670 FTW 2gb vram, over clocked on air of course. With in game SSAO and AA turned off I was getting 42 ~60 fps depending which directions I was looking.

Scrapped some coin over holidays and got gtx g1 970. I fired up x rebirth, maxed out settings in nvidia panel and in game. I proceed to load my last save and holy hell! 30fps!

I shit you not I spend last few hours tinkering my card, loosing my mind, tweaking stuff that made no logical reason to tweak and anything I did yelled same results.

So I nearly gave up. I was ready to RMA the card thinking it was bad. But last minute I realized, what if I start new game?


..and I did and got 60-70+ fps with all bells and whistles maxed the shit out of, and the game runs like champ. Tried my old saves again and same issue. Lucky I wasn't too far into game. So now I can enjoy some piece of mind in space!

By the way, I reinstalled drivers few times, used older drivers, uninstalled evga preciion, gigabyte oc guru II. I made sure in game settings were showing my existing card in use. Checked more stuff which is too long to describe. None of it helped till I started new game.

my only concern is could be it be the sector you are in? i know that some of the huge factory areas tend to drop Frames per Second drastically... i would have suggested flying to another sector on your previous save before anything.

all the same, glad a new game is working for you. here's hoping it was some strange bug... (but like i said, i think it was the sector more than anything)
