Save loaded, stuck staring at a door

I've just started playing a new game and I was 22 mins in when the save prompt came up, so I saved. Shortly after the game crashed to desktop. On loading the save, it appears I'm stuck between the two doors to enter the cockpit. I can still shoot and steer, but all I can see is a door. In-game menus and so on don't work either, so there's no way for me to leave my seat and try and re-enter. Any ideas?

There is a shortcut command somewhere in the command menu to return to cockpit (when docked). Try that if you can although you say that menus don't actually work.

Otherwise the save sounds broken and you may need to load an earlier save. It is worth saving as often as practicable, especially when first trying out new versions of the game.

Can you still see where you are flying or are the doors closed so you can't see into the cockpit?

You say the in-game menus don't work, do you mean the "Enter"-side menu or ALL menus, including the mouse menu?

Does the menu that pops up when you double leftclick on an object with your mouse still work? If yes, then try to dock somewhere.
Does the drone menu work and do you have any drone equipped? If yes, then try piloting a drone and return with the ESC-key.

Try opening the options menu and switch to windowed mode and then back to fullscreen, maybe that re-initializes the animation.

Try entering a highway, maybe that'll throw your character around so much that he'll be out of bounds and get teleported back to the back room.
