Hey guys, my performance on 2.5 is still pretty horrid and i'm starting to get a bit upset, not only did my saves not transfer right for some reason (not mods) but if anything my performance is same/worst than before.
Here are my specs:
Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.30 GHz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 660M 2GB
Windows 7 64-bit
12 GB RAM
1 TB HDD (over 600 GB free space)
To get constantly smooth frames at 40+ i have to play at low with everything turned off and id rather not, the game looks great and i remember having more settings on before than I do now.
So should I be playing like this? My computer isn't lousy, it's a Asus G55VW ROG computer and I play basically everything on high or ultra, but X rebirth makes my computer feel like a mac air.
(Also is it just me or do legacy shaders look a bit better? Everything looks like weird shiny plastic with the new shaders)
Coming back after a hiatus, 2.5 performance still low?

The current version of the game is 2.51, which was a basically a hotfix that came out shortly after 2.50. If you have not tried 2.51 there is a chance that compatability with your old save was fixed. It didn't addess performance though so from that point of view, you will probably be best off waiting for the hotly anticipated 3.00, which brings some cool changes and performance tweaks (release scheduled for end of December, I think)

I've noticed that the 3.0 beta plays much better for me, though some areas are still down into the low 30's. But if there's no asteroid field and just a couple of stations I now get 60-80 fps, much more than before.
It also feels a lot more smooth than it did before, even when framerate is low.
This game is highly CPU limited, and you have a mobile CPU so will suffer extra for that. I've found turning off the Radar to be a nice boost to my framerate, as it reduces the CPU load.
