With all the problems peeps is having, it would be nice to know what DX ver the game is being tested with, would'nt it.
PM will do, but cant see how that would infringe on the NDA

mainly graphical niceties, once the card manufacturers get there drivers DX9 compatable, main dif will be on DX9 cards (not many if any out yet)Oldman wrote:Why do we need DX9?....eventually.
What does it do?....all I basically know is that it's an upgrade? for DX8.
The main problems that i've found (in changing from one version to another) is that the drivers for graphics cards sometimes have to be upgraded, as well as the sound card drivers, though I think this, (because of being on the internet) is a lot less hassle for me these days.
From past experience I've found it's better to wait awhile before upgrading from one DX version to another but apart from that my knowledge of what DX 'does' is very limited

i see your point. but maybe we are forced by other games to install directx9. i only hope, that there won't be as much problems with x2 and directx9 than there were with x-t and directx8 installed (weird sound problems with directx8.0. disappeared with directx8.1).pjknibbs wrote:Thing is, I don't think the new features in DX9 (mostly extra support for pixel and vertex shaders) will work unless you have a new graphics card anyway--e.g. GeForce FX (and possibly Radeon 9700 Pro, but I'm not sure about that). Since I have no intention of upgrading my graphics card in the near future (GeForce4 Ti4400 ought to do fine for now!), I won't bother upgrading to DX9 until a game forces me to do so.
