"How hard can it be?" - Use drones or auto-pilot to collect loot

What would it take to use auto-pilot or drones to collect loot after combat?

After a fleet-battle or a small trip to xenon core sector there is lots of loot to collect but its quite the pain to get them all.

I will prefer some type of laser beam to collect all loot in x km :)that will be very easy with massive reckoning when happens some times:)

Laser work suring fight, drone might get shot down, i prefer the drone alternative, like the mining drone kinda, instead of grabbing ore, it grabs the container, you would need to mark it.

hint: in 3.0 some Script commands related to this have been added - so anyone attemting this should update his xsds

EGO said much in Rebirth is done via drones, im happy to see this...

I for one dont want to mark or "beam" anything with a laser, i wanna launch a drone and when launched it gathers any loot within certain area, or even all loot in the zone im in.

I would wait for the Teladi DLC before making a mod out of this as Teladi seem to be the perfect race of doing exactly this - collecting space waste.
I wouldn't be surprised if you can by tools/software/ships from them.

So who knows...
