[2.50/whatever] Campaign related crap
This topic is a heavy rant, inappropriate language will be used, so do not read if you're a fanboy or under 18.
Now, who the **** even plays the campaign in this turd, am I right? Well... obviously not Egosoft. So, apparently after some recent (11 months - present) updates the game got rebalanced at some point and also introduced difficulties to what otherwise was a very very very easy campaign (not really... people that pre-ordered this turd will know why).
And since no one is playing the campaign and Egosoft never test their ****** games/patches internally, due to how the improved AI works, the Xenon mission (the one with the hacking) is now completely ******. Why ******, you might ask? Well, apparently the cloaking device used for this mission seems to only work on a single object at a time, which is either the player's ship or the drone.
So... without any warnings on how many hacking drones you need to have for this mission and without the ability to uncloak once you're out of the Xenon sector (you know, for when you might want to buy some more ****** drones), this mission is pretty much a frustrating pile of crap. To be more specific (maybe not everyone understands), the drones get sniped before they can return to your ship.
Now, I might be completely out of my ****** mind, but I don't recall this being a problem before. I'm doing a hard playthrough (which may, or may not have something to do with it) and the AI is just too ****** aggressive (I don't have a problem with this, except for this mission), to the point that, they somehow get attracted to your location, no matter how hidden you are, once you enter the drone, they start attacking you, making it impossible to even complete the objective. Even if you do manage to get into cover and not get destroyed, the drone will not make it back, no matter what you do. I've spent over 3 hours trying to find a way to safely have the drone return, have it right next to the ship, behind cover, doesn't matter what you do, the drone gets sniped every time, rendering this mission impossible to complete.
Of course you could use a previous save, but what if I don't have a recent one and why the **** should I go back to a previous save point, just so I can progress in this ****** turd? It's so ****** exhausting to play this, fighting to progress through an unending list of bugs. Maybe next year, or the year after that we will get a gleam of what we paid for.

I just finished game and I had same problem
I brought only one drone.... What I did is just fly my drone to skunk(after hacking) and than let it go(it come back to cargo faster).... Also it is annoying when I try to hack station and Xenon ships are hitting my Skunk and I keep hearing shield critical

It's not world hunger because we can't feed poor,it's because there will never be enough to feed the rich .....

Like I said, I tried everything. Having the drone next to the ship doesn't help when you are swarmed by every single Xenon fighter in the zone. Even if you're lucky enough to have it return, once or twice, there are 4 stations that needs to be hacked. How many times one can endure the minutes long loading screens, just to get past a single mission?Nikola515 wrote:I just finished game and I had same problemI brought only one drone.... There are solutions to this, if only Egosoft would test their crap before releasing it to public. But I guess this isn't really a priority.

My understanding is 'campaign' is not really an accurate description. It is really just a prep / intro in how to use the games features, which is now more or less obsolete since all the fixes, changes, adding's, etc with all the patches. The 'campaign' was released with version 1. Rebirth is now at version 2.5, soon to be v.3. Probably would need a new game start for v.3. which reflects these updates. Or at least an official updated MANUAL, as I'm finding there are too many things that are not really intuitive in the game.
I'm not qualified to say any more as I have only spent 5 minutes trying it out ( 'campaign' ) before switching to free play, which I have always preferred anyway. And even there I'm just basically a space tourist / explorer flying around, scanning for stuff sometimes.
Ego has a history of making poor quality main plots and so this is nothing new for me. If people want to play a game with a quality story to it then many will be disappointed. The main strength of the X Universe games is the sandbox, and Rebirth unfortunately lacks in this regard too for now, compared with X3AP/TC and earlier games. Hope things will get better as time goes by.
X2 was the only time I played a Egosoft plot line through to the end.

People keep saying stuff like this, but I really don't get it. It provides some assets to experiment with, but it really doesn't to much tutorial-wise after the first few objectives. Can anyone identify a specific mechanic used or discussed in the plot which has substantially changes since release? I've run through it a number of times, and can't think of anything.ThommoHawk wrote:My understanding is 'campaign' is not really an accurate description. The storyline itself is decent, though the execution is pretty janky in places. It does do a reasonable job of setting the stage for the game and establishing the universe, at least.
Some game elements have been awkward from the start, though, and a few problems have crept up or gotten worse. ROV drones, as mentioned in the OP, continue to be frustrating to try and use for their required plot missions (to put it mildly). There's also a problem with RoC allies currently not spawning in the "protect hijacked freighter" mission, for example, making that fight completely brutal.

Storyline in Rebirth compared to the X:3 Trilogy is miles better.
Not Oscar winning performance.. I just think people are expecting too much.
Egosoft have improved from previous titles with this version; not saying it's perfect, but it's an improvement.
Apart from bug hunting, some more new features, more places to explore, I don't see what there is to complain about?
It's a new game engine with a promising future; give it time.

Hacking a ship beforehand was made completely useless for boarding awhile ago, which sucked!

Ah, that's true. I guess I didn't express myself clearly, though, since it's not quite what I meant.
Are there any elements currently in the plot that describe outdated mechanics? I haven't noticed any on my last few runs, and I've done it a few times recently since it provides a nice, varied testing ground for experiments and projects.
The campaign does have some serious problems right now, but I can't identify anywhere that "obsolete" is one of them. Yet that seems to be a popular talking point in regards to plot criticism lately.

A word to the wise. If you continue to abuse the swear filter, you will get official warnings and have your threads/posts locked. You may also lose your posting privileges. This is your one and only 'unofficial' warning.eXodL wrote:......{first post}.......
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Oh, the so wise moderator that likes to s.....never mind. I take it that you're that fanboy that shouldn't have read the thread? You know what an actual abuse would be? Me bypassing the filter completely and say ******* for as many times as you can count.Nanook wrote:A word to the wise. Or I could've just easily write *************** and ********** + *** in ******* (is shift+8 also considered as a filter abuse or what?). Are you really that obtuse to get offended by the commonly used word in venting a frustration (which was even filtered, so what's the problem again)?
I don't really give a **** (did it again) what you do, I'm not here to make friends or get accepted into this big ****** (I have to stop doing that) family, sharing experiences in what is still an unfinished and untested mess.

I don't really understand how people can say the Plots no longer relevant. Sure, the games coming along, but the plots there, it's advertised, it was an advertised feature pre-release.
Most sandbox games, while not adding tons of expansions to the plot, still tend to at least keep it up to date, and relevant.
And the biggest glaring point of all, is the upcoming Teladi expansion, with it's own advertised plot. I'm going to presume this is only accessible during the main plotline start, which again gives no excuse to have that broken.

^ Thankfully I just prefer sanbox anyhow, plotlines in Xuniverse games have always tended to be rather contrived and poorly implemented, and I am no longer disappointed by them.
I do make a distinction though; the X3 Reunion, X2 and pre-X2 games were different from X3AP and X3TC in that the former games made a genuine attempt at a set plotline (with cut scenes, characters etc), and the latter ones just had 'main plot missions' (with the blue book icons). The XReunion Story may be better than previously, but fail to do anything for someone like myself who likes open sandbox modes.

You were unofficially warned and still decided to act in a disrespectful manner. You have now been warned officially. If you do not cease to act in this manner you will be banned.eXodL wrote:Oh, the so wise moderator that likes to s.....never mind.
