Joystick Problems

Post by lexraider »

Will the joystick problem ever be fixed for Rebirth, or if it has can anyone point me to a solution. I am using a Logitech Extreme 3D pro. With all the previous X games it works perfectly from the start but with Rebirth it is all over the place. I've tried adjusting the sensitivity and the dead zone but to no avail, the stick does nothing then suddenly my ship or whatever zooms way to the right or left of the aim point and I have to make multiple adjustments to get on target. This makes the game unplayable, and that's only one problem. Any help. I could attempt this game if I could move around without continually ramming things.

Have you by mistake (and its easily done in older versions) mapped your analogue axis of your joystick to the digital controls?

If you have then a small movement of the joystick = maximum steer and it becomes uncontrollable.

Thanks, that I can understand.
Tried these, still no better. Its all or nothing. Nothing for the first movement of the joystick in any direction, then 'woosh' straight past the aim point, only minute adjustments get me on target by which time its usually too late
Anyone any recommendations, either for configuration or a joystick (not gamepad) that actually works with this game.

Joystick

Post by i64man »

Lexraider, I try the game yesterday for the first time ....I bought it and didn't play it based on the comments.

Anyway, I have the same joystick, but my case is that is not responsive. It is very hard to move the ship with the joystick, sluggish won't even describe it.

I checked the calibration and it is ok, dead center on the stick, all buttoms works the stear, speed,,,,all ok.

But in game, it just don't cut it. I used this same stick with X3 and AP with no issues.

You need to properly asign axis first. For some weird reason, the default configuration assign X and Y axis to strafe instead of steer.

Nothing works, I dont understand why you can't just choose gamepad or joystick as you can in every other game without having to go through a sequence that would baffle a quantum physicist. I will just give up completely on Rebirth and eagerly await Elite Dangerous, this is where I came in.

Hi,

I don't know if this helps, but I was having similar problems. A number of things I have done may help you.
  • Restore Defaults - This command is found at Options->Settings->Controls. Right at the bottom. I was having similar problems and this helped.
The other alternative is more drastic - re-install.
I hope that helps, I've played X-Rebirth for 110 hours now but definitely do not consider myself an expert.

Joystick Problems (still)

Post by lexraider »

Just deleted, then reloaded Rebirth (2.5) there has obviously been vast improvements since my last visit but I still can't get my joystick to respond properly. There is a great deal of lag before it responds to movement then shoots past the target at a rate of knots making targeting virtually impossible, I'm dead before I've targeted. I've tried adjusting sensitivity and dead zone, none of which seams to help. I could really give this game go if I could move around but I'm stuck going nowhere because I have virtually no control. Any help would be appreciated.

I mostly play with mouse, but I still have my X52 plugged in. So I went ahead and mapped the axes. With ingame deadzone at 2% and full deflection (100% sensitivity) the response is the same with mouse steering.

No problems whatsoever.
