With the newer upgraded cockpit configurations that's the way it's always been for me.

strange since the other two new ones havent done that to me, perhaps i just go to the empire builder cockpit, just sorta seems out of place the solid blue///

I've had it on the combat cockpit and both liked it and thought it was intended. As in I believe it is meant to signify that I'm looking at a wall-to-ceiling monitor rendering the outside rather than just looking out the origional window.

That was what i was thinking it might be, just seems to jerk me the wrong way seeing blu when going in and out, but makes sense, wouldnt really want glass if you dont need it, battles an all.

*Edit* Also to make it even better, when ur hull starts getting the crap kicked outta it, the screens start breaking and turning off ahahaha, i now love this cockpit the most lol!

Combat cockpit upgrade is nicknamed "Blue Moon", and that is why. It is indeed completely normal.
