Weapons mod: is this possible to mod?

I recently tried the Lost Weapons mod and it got me thinking, would it be possible to get the vanilla weapons purchasable and usable on multiple hardpoints? I would LOVE to fly around with 4 Inertial Hammers but it might just be too unbalanced if they don't take more energy to fire, or each takes a normal amount and you can only fire like 2 salvos.

So to balance this, would it be possible to mod a new type of equipment like a generator with variants like the engines/shields? this would enable quicker recharge for weapons or larger energy reserves with slow recharge for the quick blitz of damage (like vs capital ships).

My ideal would look like this:

Slot 1 - Quick regen generator Mk2
Weapon - x4 Pulsed Maser Mk1
Slot 2 - Large storage generator Mk1
Weapon - x3 Inertial Hammer Mk2
Slot 3 - Standard generator Mk1
Weapon - x1 Mining Laser
