Ideas: Engineer supplies and Cargo officer.

Hi All and Egosoft

I have two ideas consisting of Engineer supplies and Cargo officer.

Idea 1: Ever wondered where the Engineers get spares from so do i and this is where this idea comes in.

When you are in space collecting loot some of it is Engine parts,jump drive components,metal plaiting, and ship scrap etc. and you go to a trader to sell but why not pass some of them on to the Engineer to help with repairs and when the ship collect big container some of these are weapons, forcefield gens etc. and again the Engineer would use these parts too.

Its is long way between shipyards.

Idea 2: How about adding a Cargo officer to the crew to deal with all cargo transactions leaving the captain to do the flying etc.

When trading the captain plot cause to trade port and Cargo officer would then take the trade and the more he trade with the same places the more discount he gains for you and also you would give him credit for free trade runs setting how much profit % would automatically transfer back to you.

These are both nice ideas, but as far as I know we can't add new npc types via xml so the cargo officer would really be an addon to the captain. Maybe affected by a stat like Morale...

YorrickVander: nice of you to agree i had looked at these ideas on the bases of a real ships and even then the captain is only in charge of the ship and bigger ships would have a helmsman to steer and a No.1 would deal with the rest of the crew who most would deal with cargo but i thought to many and instead of a No.1 a cargo officer yes he would have to work with the captain i think these ideas are needed to make the ships crew and game right.

And single crewed freighters should have a second crewman an all rounder to deal with cargo, engines, and those that have guns defence as well as keeping the captain company.

I did have the idea about two types of pilots those the are freighter and those that are fighter and to tell them apart their tags would be stranded blue colour for freighter and orange for fighter pilots and of course the captains for capital ships but this idea mite be to much.
