Egosoft priced their previous two games far too low and there is a danger that people will think "cheap price = cheap game" and we know that this couldn't be further from the truth.
Egosoft need revenue (income) to fund new projects (such as X3 and/or the projected X Online Universe).
Development of a game like this cannot be cheap and the quality we get would warrent paying that sort of price. I have paid thirty quid for software that I gave away after a very short time because it was crap.
Also remember that if a publisher is involved in marketing this new game then they will take quite a chunk out of the monies that Egosoft finally receive for sales.
Anyway, sod the price, just give us the completed game.
