How and Where to save stats from current game?

Hello All and to Whomever can answer my question.
I have been playing X3TC for quite a while now and would like to save my stats for future use as I have just started a new game in X3TC.
I know that my games are automatically save each time I dock and each time I pay for a save game. However... all the saved games roll up and off the list each time I dock. My New Start is rolling up my saved games from the one I have been playing for such a long time and I would like to be able to save my last one so that I may, in the near future, go back to it.
The Only thing I can think of would be to reload the whole DVD into a different folder and start from scratch at that point. Anyone have any ideas as to accomplish what I want without having to reload the whole DVD again?

An alternative to manually backing up your saves, would be using external tools like the X3 Savegame Manager by mrbadger.

If you need a separate installation, you can actually simply copy your X3TC game folder to another directory. This is especially useful, when you want to try out scripts and mods, but still want to keep one unmodified (vanilla) installation. However, it will not help with storing / backing up savegames, since saves from all installations are stored in the same place.
