[2.0] X Rebirth 2.0 don't start with Steam v012 (solved)

Hi,

after searching for a solution why X Rebirth 2.0 won't start, maybe i found the reason.

Sometimes Steam don't update himself, you found the current versioninformation about the stable release here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_(software)
Check your Steam API Version: Steam -> Library -> Help -> Steam

If your version is lower but steam wont update you have to do it self (follow the next steps).
If not, Steam is not the reason, read the FAQ and in the Forum to find more informations.

1. Exit Steam (Not only closing the window)
2. Backup your savegames and all what you need from the steam directory.
3. Ask someone who have v015 about the steam.exe or use mine:

4. Delete all files in your Steam directory except the folders "SteamApps" and "userdata", do not uninstall.
5. Copy the steam.exe (v015) into your steam directory and start them.

If your Registry is ok, Steam will repair and update himself, so you don't need to redownload all your steam games again.

Still this raises the question, why X Rebirth depends on having a certain steam version. It's strange X Rebirth does not run with older versions of Steam. Why create such an odd dependency?
This is the only game in my steam library that immediately exited after starting it.
Now the issue is finally resolved for me.

More importantly, why is the Steam client not updating itself, in the first place.
