Steam version not starting

I have just downloaded and installed the steam version of Rebirth and unfortunately it will not even open the initial loading or opening screen.
I have tried turning off all my NVidia settings, changed my sound settings and verified my game twice both times showing nothing untoward, can anyone give suggestions as to where I might be going wrong. Thanks

Check if Steam is in need of an update and if your antivirus is letting Rebirth launch.

A good thing to do is to post system specs and a DxDiag here, so people have a bit more information to try and help you.

Also Verify your Steam Cache in Right-Click X-Rebirth in Steam>>Properties>>LOCAL FILES>>Verify Cache Button.

I have the same problem. Up to date video drivers, validated steam files, i do not have an antivirus running or at all tbh, deleted it and redownloaded and reinstalled it.

Nothing seems to work for me.

same problem here...
xrebirth befor version 2.0 has worked fine on my system (a friend has played any version with his steam account on my machine), now i have buyed version 2.0 too and its do nothing. <_<

where can i find the log files ?
debug mode ? any usefull start parameter for the xrebirth.exe ?

my system:
acer 5755g
intel i7-2670qm (4x 2.2ghz)
nvidia gt 630m (2gb)
4gb ram
win7 homepremium

I noticed that the file from 32bit and 64bit version of dxdiag is different so i uploaded both versions, here is the link:

have the same probl. only it crashed , when the main menue shal start. up to date driver, verified game files....everthing done

My problem was it would start up, say loading, then crash back to steam within about 15 seconds. Under guidance of Ketraar on steam forums I deleted the game folder, downloaded again and then reinstalled. Worked for me.

(I verified game files, checked updated drivers, deleted local content on properties through steam client, and I do not have a virus protection (they dont work anyways) nothing worked for me except above said fix.)

I have deleted the game files through steam and am currently re-downloading and installing them. I will let you know if there has been any success.

Please don't assume that every problem is the same. even if they appear similar. There seem to be several completely different problems reported here, quite likely with very different causes.

1. Game does not start at all.

If you run the game from the Steam client and nothing happens at all then this is likely to be either a Steam issue or a problem with your anti-Virus software. Things to try:

a) Delete the game folder from your hard disk and reinstall game via Steam.
b) Run a file verification in the Steam client (even if you just installed it).
c) Restart the Steam client (exit and start, not just close the client window).
d) Stop your antivirus software (temporarily of course).

2. Game starts but crashes before you get to the main menu.

If you run the game from the Steam client and an error window comes up straight away, or shortly after starting, then this is most likely to be a corrupt installation or a driver problem. Things to try:

a) - c) as above.
d) Check windows error logs to see whether a driver is mentioned.
e) Stop third party "game accelerators" and other game utilities such as the ASUS Gamer OSD.
f) Post a [url=http://www.egosoft.com/support/faq/faq_answer_en.php?answer=610&version=8][b]DX[/b][b]D[/b]iag[/url] report so that we can try and spot other driver problems.

Once again, do not assume your problem is the same as someone else's just because it happens when you start the game. Post a [url=http://www.egosoft.com/support/faq/faq_answer_en.php?answer=610&version=8][b]DX[/b][b]D[/b]iag[/url] report, tell us the exact error message, and preferably do so in your own thread so that the advice for different people doesn't get mixed up!

still the same situation. just downloaded, checked the integrity of the game, tried to play and absolutely nothing. steam is registering it as being tried to be open as so far I have had 6 mins of game play but im guessing that's an accumulation of the multiple attempts I have tried to open it.

please advise on any next possible steps.

I think it will not help everybody here but maybe it is because the steam version is not up to date, at first i would try to check if it is the current version.

Hello,
one advice - if you are using some Security SW (like antivirus, firewall, security bundle) then please check if X:R was not denied by that sotware.

For example COMODO Internet security for every new X:R version put xrebirth.exe into sandbox, because it is things that X:R is some malware. And X:R was not started in sandbox mode - not error, no startup screen - simply xrebirth process was killed right after start.

I must once marked xrebirth.exe as Trusted file. And after this X:R was started without troubles (till new build

).
