Un-targeting with Joystick?

I have a Logitech Attack 3. All working like a charm But... is there a way to clear your current target? Like with a mouse when you click empty space.
I thought the "Target Object" does same thing as it was back in X3: targets an object at your cursor, then clears selection as you press T while facing empty space. But it doesn't. Not a big deal. But would be nice.
