Boron Ships Don't Appear In Properties Menu... [RESOLVED]

Post by Monkeyfister »

Strangest thing.

I am starting a new game of AP (Steam version), and first time playing it.

I bought a Boron ship, and after repairs, sent it to the EQD for fitting. After that, I couldn't find it in the Properties menu. I could click on the EQD, and find it, but not listed anywhere. When on my Boa, it is listed in the "Landed Ships," but not in properties.

I thought it might be just a glitch with the one ship, but last night, I bought another Boron ship, and the same thing happened.

I now fear that Boron ships are glitches out entirely for me.

I don't keep too many Boron ships, but I sure would like to see and keep track of the few I do intend to keep.

Any help in this issue?

I checked my Properties Options, I am not blocking them from showing there by mistake. Only blocking the satellites ATM.

Be careful of the Properties Option 'Show Wingmen Only' - you have to set 'No' for that! There is also 'Don't show hidden ships' that I keep on 'No' so that Property still shows the things that you hide in the sector map displays.

Meanwhile, ships sent for PHQ repair will disappear from property while they are being repaired.

Are you looking under the correct ship class if you have the 'group ships by class' option enabled? I cannot think of any other reasons for this issue in vanilla. Try verifying the Steam gamecaches for both X3TC and X3AP separately.

Only thing I am blocking is SATs right now.

The Boron ships simply are not there.
Split ships are there.

Show All in Properties-- the Boron ships are not there.
If I sift for just M3s, the Boron Ships are not there.

In Properties it shows my Kestral, and the 2 Novas, but the Boron ship is not listed.

Seems in this game of AP, I just won't buy and keep Boron ships. They are mostly useless anyway.

I tend to just repair and sell them all. Still, it is nice to not have to physically search through the maps to find them.

Something must be up with your game install if all the Property Options are set correctly. That is not normal vanilla X3AP behaviour. The Property screen should not even know, let alone care, what race the ship comes from for display purposes.

You could link here a vanilla save with the issue uploaded to a file-sharing site for other vanilla players to take a look at.

I figured it was an oddball problem.

vanilla w/Bonus Pack installed.

I hope it is only the Boron ships. I'd hate to get along into a real wining long game, and find out that it borks other Race ships.

As it stands, I cannot think of a single Boron ship that I MUST HAVE/cannot survive without.

That issue may be the tip of an iceberg of other potentially game-breaking issues that you are unaware of so far. Have you verified the gamecaches yet? A save linked here could help a lot.

I am at work right now.

Don't know how to "link a save" here, or where to find game cache. Steam sort of mystifies everything.

OK no problem.

Uploading a save - doesn't have to be the sites listed.

Verifying a Steam gamefiles cache. Actually this is one of the best gamefiles-check facilities around (much easier than if you had a suspect DVD version) and Steam is very helpful in this respect. It should be the very first action with any Steam game problems.

Steam said 6 files invalid... will be re-acquired. shut it down, restarted, ran the test, again.

Says it's fixed now.

Don't know if the saved games will function, but I'll try it before tackling some third-party file site.

Re-loaded game and most recent save.

Problem still persists.

No Boron ships.

It'd be nice if Egosoft could ever get a game to work properly.

OK.

So, I have found the savegame files, but cannot open them. Am I supposed to just copy and paste the .exe or whatever it is?

Opening it in a text file is just gibberish symbols and wingdings. Is that what I am supposed to upload?

I don't understand a bit of what the instructions are trying to tell me. Clarity would really help.

I'll just try this: https://www.mediafire.com/?lkqsaqhtea8hm72

I've no idea if it is what is needed.

It was 13.16 megs.

I am close to 100% certain that I do not want to get elbows-deep into re-writing savegame data just to make an Egosoft game function.

Let me know up front if it is going to involve tinkering in that muck.

Resolved in what way? - The details may help others with this type of situation.

If your game installation was corrupt (at least 6 gamefiles were corrupt or missing) then the probability is that all your previous saves are corrupt too. You might have to start a new game with your fixed game installation.

For future info. You just upload one gamesave with the issue (further zipped if you want, but that is unnecessary) to a public fileshare site. You don't have to open or read the save file at all. They give you a web link to that file on their server and you copy that into a post here. It is that simple.
