[MOD]Titurel Engine Fix Standalone

Hey Everyone!

Important: This mod is already integrated into my “Larger Ship Hulls and Fixes”mod , should you use it, please don’t install this version.

Mod is savegame compatible and can be removed / added anytime. However Titurel engine fix will only apply to newly built/spawned ships.

This mod fixes the engine legacy bug introduced during the game development, causing Titurel to be slower than intended. Titurel is expected to perform at 70 m/s - sadly it never happens, due to the fact that it has been supplied with different types of engines:

1 x 70 m/s (correct one)
4 x 28 m/s (mistake)
1 x 40 m/s (mistake)

it also uses L boosters instead of intended XL ones.

here is the confirmation from the Egosoft representative Kelthur in the thread discussing this issue.

"The Titurel using engines with different properties is a mistake. The engine_size_l_03_macro.xml and engine_size_m_03_macro.xml macros are deprecated and will be replaced with proper engines (the fix will likely be delayed and part of an upcoming balancing patch)."

This bug causes Titurel to perform at half the speed and maneuverability at best, as game averages the properties of all engines and only after results with the outcome we can observe in game. The UI information in the details menu is also wrong, as it only gives the specs of the mainsail engine, while the real performance is much slower. You can read more on it in the thread linked above.

The best way to observe and reproduce this behavior is to compare Titurel with ship similar in performance -Scaldis (64 m/s)

Mod changes:
  • unifies the engines properties used in Titurel, to ensure nominal performance (and as originally intended by Devs):
    • creates new, Titurel specific, M engine type (in place of not intended 4 x 28 m/s), not to conflict with other ships that may use the same macro of the replaced one. New engine follows the specs of the mainsail.
    • replaces the L slow engine with the mainsail XL engine (fits perfectly as the space was originally planned for it)
    • Not really a big change, but you can now observe all the animations from rear engines as both XL mainsails are present.
  • fixes the booster type to the correct XL one.
I have been testing the ship for several days and being very happy with it.

Please, do let me know if there is anything in the mod that needs changing.

I got this, examined the scripts (after de-catting them), then made changes to a save game that has the 2 Titurels I capped.

Major improvement!

One word of warning: don't be looking too closely at the engines when they go to boost, all that blue light might blind you. :)

It appears that 2.0 has broken this mod. I found a Titurel and as a new spawn does not have the reconfigured engines.

Thanks I will have a look if the Titurel has been fixed in this release and update the mod if needed.

Hey Guys!

I have tested the mod on my lappy and it seems to work with no issue in 2.0, however I am travelling until Friday and I may simply have an old build of the game.

As soon as at home, I will update the mod to the newest game version!

Nidaren, have you thought about making another "fix" mod for the Scaldis? One that converts the Scaldis's 3...4 individual storage into a single true universal storage?

Good idea! It won't be a fix however as opposed to Titurel I don't think such changes were intended by the Devs.

I will make a extension that will do just that :)

Most likely after the weekend though as I am only back on Friday evening.

Sounds good to me. As for what was intended...it is hard to say, it looks like it was meant to have universal storage...but may be at the time they did not have a class for universal storage until the Titurel. But by then it was less of a priority to address the issue.

Any way unless a developer speaks up...we may never know. But I will be very happy to have the Scaldis reach it full potencial as a mining platform.

Updated Engine Fix to game version 2.0. Make sure you have updates on in the Extension properties in game!

Auto Trader
Butter Ranges
Butter Rewards
Fixed Player Trade Run
Scaldis Cargo Fix
Titurel Engine Fix Standalone
No jump fuel for player ships

So far as I know there is nothing there that should also mess with the Titurels HP. But it was at 330%...and while I do not mind one having 5k+ HP...I find it odd.

Hey there,

I spawned 20 in game to check if that bug occurs, but sadly I could not reproduce it. Nothing in the code messes with the hulls here.

Only thing I can think of is maybe an old savegame you are using? Otherwise I honestly have no idea.

After Real War killed my last game, this is a fresh start without with 2.0. So yeah kind of an odd bug I guess. But hey...the ship can survive some hurt for a while. :-)

Hmm, this is an odd bug. I have checked in game and Titurels spawn with all the engines.

Can you please check if the mod is activated properly in game?

I'll check it when I get home tonight. How do I check to see if the mod is activated properly? I've dropped it into the extensions folder and enabled in game. If it helps, I'm using the current 64bit beta
