I would like to play with a Russian dubbing, which fits quite well for space simulators I would say (or it's just because of the Parkan II which I played earlier), but because it takes me way too long to read something in Russian, I would like to have English subtitles and all the texts in the game, including the loading picture. Is there any way how to do that?
I have a Steam version of the game, so I just need to know what English files to backup before downloading the Russian language (if it works like this, ofc)

This is more a Scripts and Modding topic and might be better in that forum. An outline is offered below though.
You could select the appropriate language in the lang.dat file (or Steam loader language if appropriate - such as applies for X3AP). If you select the Russian language option then that changes all text and voice to Russian (if available for that game).
You then need to extract the gamefile cat/dat pairs using an extraction tool from the S&M forum making sure you extract and overwrite gamefiles in correct order of the patches/updates.
Now you need to find the final text xml files in the gamefile text folder. The Russian file (with 07) needs to be renamed to something else - as a backup. Then the English text xml file (with 44) needs to be renamed to look exactly like the Russian one was before you renamed it. You would now have Russian voice with English text, controls legends and subtitles in the game as far as is possible.
This may help.
