[X3AP] Mod complications causes game freezing

Post by Aidyer »

I had put a few extra weapons/ships mods on my game saves years ago, and decided that was a bad idea and ended up quitting altogether, as I was hyped-up for X Rebirth. I've recently come back to X3AP once more, partially because I have no interest in playing X:R in its current state, and I fancied finding my old saves, where I had a lot of stuff.

I found three old saves, two of them corrupt, leaving the last one usable. I'm playing these games in vanilla X3AP. I have a problem here and there: some ships from the original pack show up on my properties tab but don't actually exist, two sectors have names "Sector 16-00" and "Sector 19-00" (previously Unknown Sector and Xenon Sector 598), but that's no problem for me, as getting back to my game where I'm worth over half a billion is too much fun.

However, I've found that using my jumpdrive can sometimes result in my game freezing, forcing me to use the dreaded ctrl+alt+delete to restart my game. I've only found this so far by jumping to Ceo's Sprite, Company Pride and Aladna Hill. These are all very close together, as jumping to Gunne's Crusade is no problem for me (Thank god, that's my base of operations).

I was wondering if there's any way I could fix this by maybe cleaning up some erroneous coding from these old expansion packs that I no longer wish to use on my save, or any other advice/software that could remedy this situation.

Thank you!

So far, here are the sectors that I've jumped to recently, and if they have crashed my game or not. Notice that all the ones that have crashed so far are in the centre. Any possible explanation for this?

If your save was made in a modded game then the only really safe way to continue is to install the same mods and 3rd party scripts (and options) as before. The changes embedded in your save (both game data and in-use scripts) are probably difficult if not impossible to edit out of the save.

A fresh gamestart in vanilla may be your best bet.
