Status of savegames

It is kind of safe to carry savegames from a previous version to a new patch or should I start over clean again ?

I like to explore every station and trading points before I get to the next plot step and honestly, it's getting old and painful to do it all over multiple times so, I need to know if savegames are usable from a version to another.

It'll be fine to play your old savegame with the latest version, but it'll take time for the ai's trade ships etc. to catch up with the changes to the new patch but it should be fine.

I am not so sure about that. It is playable but after comparing my 1.18 save upgraded all the way to 1.24 compared to my all new 1.24 didn't really look the same. I was going to examin them more closely this week.
