Hard drive thrashing

Post by warriorspot »

Hello,

Im having an issue where my hard drive is going nuts continuously (continuously reading/writing data), but only when facing a station at close range. If I face empty space it immediately stops.

Im on Windows 7 with 4 GB of RAM. Not sure if there are any settings on the PC or in-game to prevent this.

Cheers,

Brennan

4gb is too small for that game.
it's just swapping, try to minimize OS and other running application memory usage.

I have upgraded to 8GB, and the same thing is happening. I can hear the hard drive grinding away continuously, and the task manager shows ~1.4 GB of memory used by X Rebirth.

I've also noticed, perhaps since the 1.21 patch, that while my FPS is better, I get stutters or hiccups all the time in rendering. The rendering will stutter slightly (like its loading resources) all the time, in no discernable pattern. This is independent of the graphical density of the scene. This happens near stations in Ascendancy or in empty places in DeVries.
