Hi,
I realise the specs say you need an I5 processor but I got X rebirth for Xmas and wondered if it would run with either of my systems :
Intel Pentium D (Presler) 950 3.4 GHz over clocked to 3.5
or
Intel Core Duo E2160 / 2.2 GHz
The windows versions Im currently running are win 8.1 in 32 bit mode and XP sp3 32 bit but believe I would be able to upgrade 8 to 64 bit if required apart from that I meet the rest of the required specs.
4gb of ram in both machines
and NVIDIA GeForce GT630-2GD3 PCI-E Graphics Card - 2 GB in both machines
I really don't want to remove the cellophane and try it if theres no chance of me being able to run it and Im going to have to return it.
Cheers for the help.
Quick check on processor.

I don't know about your particular rig, but this thread might give you a better idea of what to expect. The latter half of page two discusses performance on a submimimum rig which will offer a benchmark of sorts to which you can compare your own PC.

Thanks, I had a look and it all seems a bit over my head technically and I still don't have a clue.
The way I see it is that although my processors older its still faster than the newer minimum processor required (Core 2 duo at 3.6ghz compared to i5 at 2ghz. )
Id attach a DXdiag but Im not at home atm, its all soo blinking confusing.

Re: Quick check on processor.
I’ve tried it with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ under Win 8.1 x64 5gb RAM and got 1-2 FPS so... just don’t even try it.WindsweptDragon wrote:Intel Core Duo E2160 / 2.2 GHz
My 2nd System was an AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2GHz Win7 x64 8gb RAM and it was pretty decent.WindsweptDragon wrote:Intel Pentium D (Presler) 950 3.4 GHz over clocked to 3.5
My 3rd System is an AMD FX8350 Black Edition Win 8.1 x64 16gb RAM and my System is in Idle mode (12-16% CPU Usage).
Since X:R is an x86 binary it wont go over 4gig ram, most time it only use 2,5-3,1gig so RAM is not important. If you use the Pentium D 950 it's maybe possible to play on low settings but you may encounter performance issues in cluttered zones.

Not entirely true, the OS and drivers/services/background apps like to use memory as well so the minimum is 4GB but the recommended is 8GB (so that the game can be memory resident at all times - or so I am led to believe). Anything over 8GB is probably not going to help much.Escaflow wrote:RAM is not important

Thanks guys, it sounds like im going to probably have to give this game a miss, highly disappointing as I had been really looking forward to this game.
The last game I had was X3 with xtension and I rely enjoyed it, should I maybe try Albion prelude ? is it as big as X3, with as much to see and do ? ... and will that work on my system ?

I'd give this game a miss right now anyway, even if you had the specs. Unless, of course, you're like us and get a kind of perverse pleasure out of frustration and bug squashing. That's most of what this game is right now. Georgeous graphics but a buggy economy, boring combat, and yes, I'll say it, the worst UI in memory. Its not ready for prime time. By the time you upgrade your rig, this game might be ready for the marketplace.
I can't comment on your ability to play other X games, I'm sorry to say. Your CPU may as well be named with random numbers.
I know my machine and not much else. You'll have a much better idea of what yours is capable of relative to game requirements.
