[MOD] Build Small Ships (beta)
After numerous attempts to get it to even load with all 8 lines online (which ended in fatal errors and ctds while starting a new game) I decided to pull all the way back and test out with one single line.
(...Yes, I know that's what I should've done from the start.)
I got it to show up on the list, but the build button is greyed out.
Now trying to figure out what it takes for the build button to come online...

You can add S and M ships to L or XL lists but there are seems some kind of checking of ship type to build and shipyard type coz when i try build it money and resource disappear but nothin was builded. Cost of ships buy/sell going from wares.xml so S and M ships should be added here. Did you manage to achieve the appearance shiptrader for small ships on these shipyard?

Interesting. This is one of the more obviously missing features in the game, the ability to buy smaller ships. I know we can capture Fighters, but can we capture the small trade ships in the same way?
I really want to be able to buy the smaller trade and mining ships, as well as *finally* being able to buy fighter wings. I've seen small groups of AI fighers flying in formation and it looks pretty good - quite effective too in numbers & with greater survivability than drone, due to their shields.
The next problem after that will likely be the fact that Carriers don't carry anything other than drones - and no more than normal ships, so a Carrier is just a poorly armed Destroyer, as a Trade ship is a poorly armed Carrier...
*sigh* a proper Carrier filled with piloted fighters which are backed up by drones is my dream...
I wonder if being able to buy Fighters and the like was excluded because it'd expose other game flaws?
Anway, good luck with the mod, I suspect you'll beat ES to this one

I was surprised when the Heavy Sul carried the same as the Light Sul (150) however, I though it's ok as the former is better armed. The fact that Destroyers have 150 then made the Sul's pointless - except based on cost of course. Freighters having 150 is fine, as of course most of the slots will be take by trade drones, though in theory a cheap Freighter filled with Combat Drones would very much be a Very Light Sul.
The true Carriers (Arawn and the two Sul's) main strength should be IMO that they can carry a small squad of Fighters, as well as service and repair them. I.e. the Engineer would repair fighters to 100% (as they dock) and also carry ample munitions for restocking.
The basic game is there, bar the bugs, we just need more depth and control. Short-term, I wish we had more control over how our ships use drones. Mine only launch 5-6 at a time that don't last long vs. a cap ship. However, if it launched them all at once it'd have a decisive victory...unless the AI launched all its drones too...well, then there's the risk of EPIC FIREWORKS lol.

Far beyond the need of :
-real hit box for the skunk and not the flying cockpit it is right now

-3rd view
-upgrade to the skunk, turrets on it
-Possibility to fly other ships.
And even a fully equiped arwan will die like a giant slug to the magic skunk Just fly into the large hanger bay and shoot it from the inside you are completely safe there.

under the Miscellaneous files, has a working version of this in Cuspid Splint. There is work that needs to be done (Large Ship building dock appears over each of the ship traders) but I have successfully built a couple of ships.

I'm really hoping to see some progress with this. I've been nabbing M and S ships via captures or just save editing to play around with them and they seem sort of broken. They work but are easy to glitch out and bounce or get stuck inside objects. I've also had some perma follow my ship after being assigned to different commanders or stations.

I've made some changes and now the ship builds inside one of the docking bays, and doesn't have that Large Shipyard scaffoldings.
The problem I now face is that it takes just utterly too long to build any of these things. (It seems to ignore the production time in the wares.xml, and took 6 minutes 40 seconds when I sat down and checked.)
...I would also need to adjust the pricing.

I'm currently working on the ship prices, taking a closer look at the ship specs and such.
All of them are currently way too cheap, due to the fact that I deliberately removed all the materials that aren't common between Albion/DeVries and Omicron. (I'm re-adding them since I finished the Omicron Shipyard Resource Fix and got it to work.)
It was within sensible range before I did that. Medium transporters had around 10% price of Large transporters, which was somewhat fitting considering that the cargo space is about that much as well, but right now the price is like 5% or something.
