no (mouse) cursor visible
OS: Win 8 Pro
GFX: GeForce GTX 670
Driver: 331.93
Problem occurs since 1.18, in 1.17 and before it was fine. Pretty much makes the game unplayable as it's impossible to target weapons or click menu items. Enabling or disabling mouse trails does not help (switches between hardware or software mouse cursor).

If you don't play with the joystick but you have it connected, the game will see it and perceive it as a gamepad. Assuming your joystick comes with a throttle slider/lever, set it to the middle position and see if it fixes things for you.Gruug wrote: Nope, no gamepad and I don't play with the joystick either.

That one actually crossed my mind. Can't (won't) disconnect it as it is in an difficult place to connect and reconnect regularly. I use it daily for other games so I really don't wish to dc it. Will however see if finding a "neutral" position on the throttle fixes it. Thanks!Atkara wrote:If you don't play with the joystick but you have it connected, the game will see it and perceive it as a gamepad. Well, I certainly wouldn't disconnect the X-52 & rudder pedals I have for my flight sim habits, for the sake of XR.Gruug wrote:That one actually crossed my mind. In my case, I also did something more drastic than just setting the throttle in the middle: I edited inputmap.xml and deleted every single gamepad related entry.

No mouse pointer is just one of the problems I've encountered in the few short hours I've played this game. restarting it solved it, but...
I can't get past delivering the 100 energy cells (3rd time of restarting and trying again): this last time I was able to deliver (I thought), the delivery was acknowledged. But the next task is ... Deliver 100 energy cells to...
I've also had the display panel vanish - for that, simply restarting the game didn't solve the problem. Going back to an earlier save did.
I don't think I have ever played such a buggy game as this one. It is barely at Beta stage.
And just as an opinion, they've made it all too complicated for its own good.
I want to enjoy it. But cannot progress. And I doubt whether a refund is on the cards.

I think EGO needs to have better control/selection of input devices. I think that because of the fact that it was essentially designed with the console controls in mind, that the game does not react well with other input devices. In my case, I DID null my throttle and low and behold I am no longer having the problem of no cursor. I am hoping EGO is reading these posts as I think that once they iron out just the control issues a lot of people will find the game much more satisfying.Atkara wrote:Well, I certainly wouldn't disconnect the X-52 & rudder pedals I have for my flight sim habits, for the sake of XR.Gruug wrote:That one actually crossed my mind. I have done the mission to deliver the 100 energy cells three times now. In every case, I deliver MORE then 100 (101 minimum) and each time the mission has completed just fine. One thing, make sure that you get BOTH delivery messages when you do this before checking your mission progression. The first message is just saying that the delivery is complete but the second is also saying that TRANSACTION is complete.mikeshaw wrote:No mouse pointer is just one of the problems I've encountered in the few short hours I've played this game. restarting it solved it, but...

Actually, for me, the game is not that complicated...just not always intuitive. The campaign gives you instructions on how to do things but I have found there are sometimes other ways as well. I suggest watching some of the youtube vids by people like Watchwithwaddy if you need some further instruction on some of the finer points (such as the 100 cell mission).

Thanks for the helpful suggestions and feedback there Gruug - but yes, all the above seen and done (I believe) I'm afraid. I delivered well over 100 energy cells, simply because the slider didn't provide single figure accuracy - it was either something like '76' or the next infinitesimal move of the slider was something like 126 - I naturally opted for the higher figure, and thought perhaps that's the reason for getting stuck. Apparently not so. Also I'm pretty sure I have received both messages (isn't that over-egging it a little? Or is that to make it nearer to 'real life'. Probably!). However, I am going to go back to a save just before delivery and watch a little closer this time - so thanks for that.
I have watched various YouTube threads on other missions as well as on this particular mission, and all complete with success - in the videos. That, together with the fact that (almost) everyone else progresses as expected says, maybe something is wrong with me or my system. However, I have also experienced, on occasion, the two bugs mentioned in this thread - mouse pointer loss and display panel non appearance. I do think it is a little buggy!
Again, many thanks for the advice - I will return and have another go to check But - I really do think that the 'Deliver xyz' message should change to something more sensible like 'Awaiting confirmation...' or something for each stage of the transaction. The 'Deliver ....' quest message is totally misleading and confusing once the sale has been made - to mere earth-bound mortals like me. Goodness me, there is a stack of 'fine detail' in the game so a little more clarity in the messages wouldn't be amiss. I'd also like a little more variation in the very repetitive dialogue options (and their 'reading') which really do get very monotonous. Hurray for the space graphics!
On the other hand, maybe age has something to do with it all. I'm 82, and refuse to stop growing up. I love this modern era - far more fun than the ludo and snakes and ladders playing days of my youth!
BTW ... why did you do that mission three times? Just curious! (I know why I've done it three times!!

First off, kudos for being 82 years young and still actively gaming. I myself am a mere 58.mikeshaw wrote:Thanks for the helpful suggestions and feedback there Gruug - but yes, all the above seen and done (I believe) I'm afraid. Yes, the dual message is a bit much I think as well. Not sure what the thinking is there. I would have liked a player acknowledgement and then a "mission complete" instead of having to wait for both messages.
I did the mission three times because of the bugs I was having (yes...non-completion the first go but also others). Then did the 100 cell mission again after one of the early patches to see if it was easier (did it from an earlier save but seemed to be working fine then). And did it again because I wanted to have a "clean" campaign after the 1.18 patch. All three worked as they should. I have noticed two things, those missions take time and are prone to further delay if another freighter happens along in front of you. Also, some of the pathing that takes place when you are in system seems a bit wonky. I recently watch a freighter I had in a sale of water take a extremely round about way to just pick up the water. And then when it delivered it, it actually travelled through a part of a station to get to that delivery point. One of those vids I mention suggests NOT sticking around in the same system for such things as it can actually take longer due to the extra calculations done for figuring out all the pathing. Myself, I like to watch it happen, but that is just me.
Little side note, the sliders have increment points on either end so you can fine tune the amounts requested. I too did not know this for a while and just got lucky finding it out.
In regards to the mission center panel, I too have had that happen. Always after playing a couple of hours and always upon returning to the ship from a station or boarded ship. In my case, I had to completely restart the game to fix it at first. Someone suggested changing the AA from either a low to higher or higher to lower setting and then selecting "Crew" from the radial menu. Supposedly, this would fix it without having to restart. It worked one time but only once for me so I had to always restart as mentioned. Another reason I restarted my campaign was to see if the 1.18 patch might correct it doing that. So far so good. I am almost back to the point I ended last time as no problem...yet.
Other then the annoying bugs, I have been having a lot of fun with this game. Barring any more frustration, I hope to be playing it and the eventual mods that will follow.

Thanks for all that. When I get a moment I will try it again from an earlier save. I think I have the latest 1.18 version now - seems to download automatically from Steam, so we'll see how that works. But apart from the graphics, I'm not overly impressed with the actual game-play on this one. The repetition, poor script and poor voicing is a big let down for me. I'm afraid I was a great fan of Skyrim (and all the Elder Scrolls series) and do prefer games of that ilk. Not really played a space game since Wing Commander - and this is nothing like that!

Thanks, this fixed it!Engriffi wrote:I had same issue. I just told Steam to verify game file integrity, which fixed it.
Takes a few minutes, let it finish.
Tho I have no clue how those files got corrupted. I did install a mod to fix the trade ships, but I deleted the mod again after 1.18 came out...
