Mining ship assigned to station gets sent to mine 2 sectors away

So i have a station in Glaring Truth / Darned Hot Air and when I assigned my Fedhelm mining ship to the manager, it sends it mining 2 sectors away in Bleak Pebble where there are a bunch of PMC enemies, even though i set the manager's range of operation to be only in glaring truth, and even though there is plenty of ore to mine right here in Darned Hot Air...

It was doing this both in 1.17 and still in 1.18, i dont know about previous versions.

Also when i add my Fedhelm back to my squad and tell it to "gather resources here" -> "Ore", it just wanders around darned hot air not mining anything... it does have surface miners mk2 equipped. When hes assigned to my station manager, even though it does end up being sent to bleak pebble, it does mine successfully. I can see it using its blue laser on asteroids, and sending the surface miners to collect..

I should also note that the Fedhelm doesnt fight back when being attacked, even though it has a defense officer and all weapons operational. The engineer also doesnt repair the ship even though it has construction URV's.

I was surprised about that too, there are plenty safe regions to mine in. But it got send next door to the PMC watching the gate to Albion. I don't understand that logic. I would never send my miner to a 'war zone'.

yeah, seriously. The more i play the game, and the more egosoft fixes critical issues(which im happy about..), the more i realize its gonna take an eternity for this game to behave properly and be enjoyable..

i mean jeez, i could deal with bleak pebble and wipe out everything thats in it, but its right by the gates to Albion.. im assuming PMC is gonna keep sending reinforcements, and so i cant mine? No mining = no forge, no wafer factory, no production whatsoever
