Shipyards getting stuck at 0% building.

Post by jasegler »

This is for 1.18 hotfix #1. I have seen this in earlier versions as well.

Sometimes a station will get stuck at 0% building on a ship.
I always quicksave before I start a ship and reload if I get the problem.
Usually 1 or 2 reloads will fix the problem.

However it happens for NPC ship building as well.
I have tried blowing up the building ship, flying away for awhile for the wreck to vanish and coming back. Those docks always stick at 0% now though.

Go to and open your save file in and XML editor.
Search for:
knownto="player"
or
player="owner"

Go through the list until you find the ship being constructed.
You'll know you have the right ship when you see something like

<connection connection="dock#part_dummy"> *suppose you can search this line as well*
<component class="ship_l" macro="units_size_l_kit_energy_01_macro connection="dock" state="construction" owner="player" knownto="player".....blah blah blah *keep in mind that some stuff might read slightly different in your save file*

Now on to the fix. Simply find and change the line state="construction" to state="complete"
Save the file and reload your game. You ship is now done being constructed.

All ship construction requires resources from the game economy. If the station lacks any one resource, construction will not progress. There is no warning, no indicator, nor any menu that will tell you about this. You will see the required resources when you're ready to build the ship, but does the station actually have enough stored resources? That's anyone's guess.

Your best bet is to just hack the save file. You can remove the "required resources" for ship construction in the save file. Doing so will let it build at full speed.

Change required resources to ZERO is just work for player's ship build order.
When a NPC ship stuck in the shipyard, that sucks a lots, you cannot buy or sell or repair your ships...

That's my situation now.
Since my Construction Vessel been blowed, i need DV shipyard to sell me a new one to continue the mission of "bulit URV forge"
BUT an arawn stuck in DV‘s shipyard over 10 game hours, I've tried sell some resouce to Roc BTO shipline, that arawn still stuck there...wtf

have you tried blowing it up, or capturing it and moving it away? There doesn't seem to be any shipyard impetus to force non customers out of its dock.

I had this issue with the urv forge thingy. Check with the manager whatever stuff that's required on the resource list.
For instance:
Thing A 1426 pcs
Thing B 455 pcs
Thing C 12 pcs

Then backup your savegame, open with Notepad++ or similar, search for the number "1426", and whenever you see it under a line entry where it says waitingforresources AND the other two numbers are present - change every number to "0". If, by chance, one item doesn't state its amount required, add the amount=0 line to it so it resembles whatever the other lines look like. Save and load game. It should be building now.

nope, it's invincible and can't be captured.
Selet it show a name "construction site".
BTW, i've tried edit the savegame to change connection to "space" and state to "complete", still stuck there.

It's not in the steam install folder, but in wherever you have your user data. I just press the windows key, then type egosoft and that gives me the user folder.

Dunno, this method has worked for me. *V1.17*

But I think it was a matter of circumstance, I reloaded an old save and tried my method and all it did was get the ship being built to show up in my "Property Owned" window. I couldnt access/give it commands at all

I went back to the save file again and tried theNemon's method, and it worked. construction started immediately.

The more reliable save game edit I've found than forcing the ship complete (seems to bug out if you're in system and get stuck at 0% for me if I do that) is to search the save file for "waitingforresources." If you do that you'll eventually find some that have a long list of resources with amount="numbers". The macro ID of the station should give you some clue to which one you're dealing with (ol in the macro indicates omicron for example.)

Once you find the resource list, set all the ammounts to 0. If you see one that doesn't have an amount next to it add amount="0"; be sure to maintain the same formatting including the space before "amount" and after after the end quote following the 0.

There will likely be several of these lists in your file. If you're not sure which one is your ship then do this with all of them and you'll be fine; at worst the AI will get one or two ships a little quicker and it destroyes most of those shortly after they're built as a scripted behavior.

As always, back up your savegame before doing this.

Alternatively you can try to edit resources on that station. Let's say you are in Darned Hot Air, search with a word owner="canteran" until you find that station. Then search for cargo entry. Stations have multiple cargomodules but you only need to find one (after finding station, search word "cargo"). Once you find that you will see entries about wares that station currently has (like <ware ware="water" amount="12713"/>), you need to add all resources that are needed for ship building and remember to add something like 999999999 to a "amount" entry. List of materials needed can be found by talking to ship dealer (chat option buy ship)but entry name might wary. No ship gonna get stuck on shipyard for a while
Also remember that this might break your info screen if number doesn't fit on it, are you ever to scan that cargomodule you edited.
How can you say there is no game under the bugs when bugs so far have prevented us from fully playing it.
