SLI cards used wrongly

Post by DemiGoth »

I have already posted this one in Technical, but I'll relink/repost the thing problem here...

Okay, here's the deal. I have 2 EVGA GTX460 SC's in my system. nVidia labels them GPU1 and GPU2 (for obvious simple reasons), and somehow GPU2 is the old main GPU (before I added the 2nd one), making it the primary GPU and that's the one that holds my monitor and GPU1 is the secondary GPU.

Every game I play, EVGA Precision shows that GPU2 is the one taking the load of the game and GPU1 is used for access memory or extra calculation power (depending if the game supports SLI or not). Bottom line, GPU2 is always active with games, while GPU1 is only active is SLI is supported.

X Rebirth however has turned them around. It puts the main load on GPU1 and no load on GPU2, meaning that monitor output is routed through the wrong card. I do have a monitor attached to GPU1 (768x1024 for PDF/reference reading when programming), but it's not getting the game's output. When I set X Rebirth to output the GPU2, it drops the game on the secundary card and thus the game stops kinda responding due to the odd resolution.

I think that on SLI systems, EGOsoft needs to take a closer look at what GPU the output is send to and not just send it to GPU1.
