It's been last Friday since the last patch and I'm getting very annoyed that I still can't play this pile of bugs and low performance.
When will you guys at EGOsoft give us a game that's actually working and playable?
I have paid a freaking €50 for a game that I can't play on my system because you failed to test on other systems than the ones you have at your offices...
Don't want to BUG you, but... *yeah - pun intended*

The game doesn`t work on their systems either. they knew all along that the game was nowhere near finished yet they released it anyway, which i wouldn`t actually mind if they released it as an early access game on steam but no, they just lied through their teeth and sold it as a finished game.DemiGoth wrote:It's been last Friday since the last patch and I'm getting very annoyed that I still can't play this pile of bugs and low performance.

I can partly understand your anger, but still you should be careful with false accusations. Egosoft and the history of former X-Games shows very well, that they support their products over years after release. Their products often have been buggy at release. But you must not forget, it is a very small gameforge, and the X games themselves are quite huge. I havent regret, buying a single X game in the past, because of that amount of after-release support you get there.davebispham wrote:The game doesn`t work on their systems either. they knew all along that the game was nowhere near finished yet they released it anyway, which i wouldn`t actually mind if they released it as an early access game on steam but no, they just lied through their teeth and sold it as a finished game.DemiGoth wrote:It's been last Friday since the last patch and I'm getting very annoyed that I still can't play this pile of bugs and low performance.

Of course the used politics that lead to launching the game were not chosen right. An early access would have been more wise. But there is reasons for that, reasons you and I might not understand.
Anyways, the harm is done, and cannot be undone easily. But history showed, that all X games turned out to be good in the end. In fact, i dont know a single single-player game, that i played even half as long, as i played every single previous X-game.
If I should name one Gameforge, thats main intention is, to deliver games with long lasting enjoyable playtime, that tries to improve and make the "spacegame-genre" more accessable to new players, one that even does support their games, for years after release (when the fountain of profit obv. dried out), then i would name these guys here.
Be patient, and you will be rewarded.

Honestly... I don't care if previous X Games have been released in a nearly unplayable state. X Rebirth isn't supposed to be an X game. It is not tailored towards the fan base. It is not meant to appeal to a small player base. They designed it to attract a wide range of players. If you decide to attract a wide player base including casuals, DO NOT RELEASE SUCH A BUGGY GAME! It will backfire big time.
Being a small company with roughly 20 employees is no excuse! They made the decision to go for an AAA game and decided NOT TO tailor it towards their fan base but rather a more wide base. This has to fail. It's one thing to make a decent game for a niche group, it's a totally different beast to develop an AAA game for a huge player base from X fans all the way to "I've never played a space-sim game before" players.

Of course it backfires,
Just read the forums. Most X veterans are calm. try to deliver them bugs and possible broken mechanics, to deliver them material to work on and fix.
It is mostly the new attracted players that go berserk mode in the forums. I agreed, the way it went was the wrong way. So that role of x rebirth, opening up more minds for space sims did not succeed.
Bugs aside, the engine is strong, if it would work. Things i have seen in this not finished game are huge and have alot of potential.
Doesnt change much about the fact, that it is mostly unplayable atm.
I am pretty sure, they wouldnt have released the game, if there would have been another option. Wise or unwise, not to go for early access, seems to be a very easy answerable question, for you and me as a consumer.
But we are no gamedevelopers or CEO's or whatever. Whatever reasons they had, is not accessable for us.
